reminded of something I stumbled on during covid

a side by side comparison of two essentially identical shots in John Ford's The Searchers and the Bugs Bunny cartoon Robot Rabbit, which came out three years BEFORE Ford's film. on the left is the famous shot of John Wayne as Ethan Edwards returning to the wilderness as seen from his reunited family's porch, on the right is Bugs Bunny in the exact same position. as far as I know this indication that John Ford plagiarized Bugs Bunny was discovered by myself.

Feeling this song deeply today. Burt Bacharach gets all the flowers but Hal David is why these songs resonate.

Went to a vintage arcade game place yesterday and it tickled my brain in a good way. Popeye, Track and Field, Joust, Defender, the original Donkey Kong and Tempest were the highlights. Only ones I wished they had were Zaxxon and Moon Patrol.

Fellow Texan film-lovers, if your public library doesn’t have Kanopy access, the Houston Public library does…and any Texas resident can get a card. Took me 3 minutes to sign up and now I have 20 Kanopy tokens per month. ✨

Finally said goodbye to my 2007 Saab 9-3 Sport-Combi wagon today. Already missing her so much but know it’s the right thing to do. I hope the next owner loves her as much as I did.

Ai is awful for a million reasons, some of the smallest/saddest are that I’ve been robbed of awe, of delight. Because now when I see something awe-inspiring from the natural world, before I swoon & smile, I think ugh, is this Ai? This is probably Ai. And instead of feeling happy, I’m wary. Skeptical

June vibes, selling and donating so much stuff. Trying to keep my house navigable as I help my dad deal with my cousin’s house full of collectibles and everything. Thousands of records and CDs and mountains of other things. Anyone want a transistor radio? I have 300.
