When did “fine” become the goal? A young person is attending, behaving, getting through the day. They’re “managing”. But coping isn’t the same as thriving. We should be asking: What would it take for this young person to THRIVE? “Fine” isn’t a good enough ambition for our young people.

“There was none of this autism or ADHD when I was at school. We were all fine.” But were we? The absence of a diagnosis didn't mean the absence of need. Many children were labelled, misunderstood, masking or just expected to cope. Fine shouldn't be the goal. Thriving should be.

For some young people, the hardest part of the holidays is losing their routine. Structure helps many children feel safe. Even small things can help: ☀️ Predictable plans ☀️ Regular check-ins ☀️ Reassurance ☀️ Calm support Small routines can make a big difference 💚

School holidays don’t need to be packed with expensive plans to be meaningful. Children find joy in surprisingly simple things: 🌿 Water play 🌿 Picnics 🌿 Puddles 🌿 Feeling relaxed with people they love 🌿 Staying up too late 🫣

The summer holidays can be wonderfully chaotic... If everyone's feeling overwhelmed, try stepping outside. A listening walk, water play, a picnic or simply feeling the grass under your feet can help children (and adults!) reset. Nature connection doesn't have to be complicated.
