Wisconsin’s Question 2 would prohibit state or local government from closing places of worship or limiting worship gatherings during an emergency, including a public-health emergency. It removes a public-health tool in advance. Vote No.

A constitutional amendment does not become law the way an ordinary bill does. In Wisconsin it follows a separate three-step path, and one step is missing on purpose.

Wisconsin constitutional amendments pass the Legislature twice, then go directly to voters. The governor cannot sign or veto them. That lets a legislative majority bypass Gov. Evers and write lasting rules into our constitution.

The proposed worship-in-emergencies amendment would not force a church, synagogue, mosque, or other congregation to stay open. Faith communities could still choose. It would instead limit state and local emergency authority. Vote No.

Governing requires flexibility. Emergencies are unpredictable. Budgets change. Courts interpret laws over time. Locking broad rules into the Wisconsin Constitution can limit future leaders’ ability to respond responsibly to real-world challenges. outagamiedems.org/constitutional-am…

Wisconsin governors have unusually broad line-item veto power. The proposed partial-veto amendment would carve taxes and fees out of that authority. This is a policy fight over budgets, not a constitutional crisis. Vote No.

The difference between a regular law and a constitutional amendment: Regular laws can be adjusted when circumstances change. Constitutional amendments are much harder to fix once they pass. That is why voters deserve the full context, not just a slogan. outagamiedems.org/events
