Sitting w/ some other parents in the waiting room. A girl, maybe 8yo, is doing math homework and I hear the mom say to her, direct quote, "Just do the math for school. You'll never have to do it again." If it were high school, I'd tend to agree, but this still isn't a good tone to set. #MathEd

Thoughts on state-level math data from #Interface in Missouri: All grades dipped in math proficiency after COVID. Middle school has recovered and surpassed pre-COVID levels, but elementary math has not yet fully recovered. Alg1, Geometry, and Alg2 are trending upward.
