If there’s an immediate risk of harm, always call 9-1-1. In this video, Dr. Meg Wilson, Emergency Physician at The Ottawa Hospital, explains how to recognize the signs of stroke and the essential steps you can take while waiting for emergency help. If there’s an immediate risk of harm, always call 9-1-1. In this video, Dr. Haroun Zayed, Emergency Physician at The Ottawa Hospital, explains how to handle minor bleeding safely and effectively with just a few simple steps. You’ll learn: Why most bleeding looks worse than it really is The first steps to take, including making sure the scene is safe and using gloves if available How to apply steady pressure to stop bleeding and why you shouldn’t peek too soon How to gently clean and dry the wound before covering it The best way to keep a wound clean and protected while it heals Most small cuts and scrapes can be managed with basic first aid.
