I met a young woman from the south who lived in Tuktoyaktuk for a few years and recently moved to Inuvik. She remarked on how Inuvik has everything and it’s hard to get used to how busy it is. Everything is about context.

I’ve been doing a very specific cost of living comparison based on the price of chocolate chips. Where I live, the big bag of chipits from Costco is 39.99. In Inuvik, a bag less than half that size is $24.59. In Dawson City, an off brand 2kg bag is $52.98. #CostOfLiving #LittleLuxuries #Cookies

It’s hot in Whitehorse. 28C yesterday. I heard someone say it was 30C. Not sure. But it was really hot. I sat in a lawn chair with my feet right in the Yukon River and knit.

Wherever I go, I always visit the local #IndependentBookstore In Whitehorse, it is Mac’s Fireweed Books. The lovely, enthusiastic young staff recommended a Romantasy to me very emphatically. I want to know what the young people are reading, so here I go! “Assistant to the Villain” is next.

Reminder that Carney has cut funding for Natural Resources Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Indigenous and Northern Affairs, and Indigenous Services. And he has rolled back climate protections, abandoned emissions targets, and is building more pipelines.

Carney:

"The wildfire situation has escalated significantly over the last three weeks across the country, and particularly in Northwestern Ontario.

Thousands of people have been forced to evacuate their communities, not knowing if their homes will survive.
