Some sort of woke marine life conspiracy, and what about the poor Fox too? Viciously hounded for generations and now this indignity.

"I's bin nowhere, wheres you bin?" In response to "wheres the bin?" The correct retort of course being: "ok but tell me wheres you wheelie bin" ("really been" in case the accent is too far off on that one for some people)

The blatant self attribution bias he displays is not a good indicator for the quality of his research on inequality (or anything else for that matter). It's reinforced by his popularity on YouTube I guess, but it really should* matter to followers. *It doesn't

As a markets person with labour politics hearing the idea that "business" is cheering possibly the most unpredictable and willingly controversial candidate as "continuity" is bonkers. Literally no idea what will happen but shes like thatcher so probably fine.. lol.

100%. You can hide the spending itself in the PSNFL or whatever but you can't hide from the fact you're increasing supply. The size of inevitable price adjustment required to attract new demand *will* depend on the credibility of the fiscal picture though i think.

Well i put myself in that camp, but only from the perspective of "they're just saying this to get elected but wont actually try and stick to it" which was me beliving i was clear-eyed but actually being hoodwinked. (Putting aside the idiocy of the idea in the first place.)

And frankly the the total farce of locking labour into "no tax increases for working people" and all that bollocks was not created in the ungovernable electorate but in Westminister.

WIRP is not actual expectations. You'd be hard fought to find a real person believing rates will be hiked 4 times, and if you did i'd expect them to be huge buyers of the long end for the inevitable recssion.

You may already be a listener but i thought the cautionary tales with Richard Garfield was fascinating on what is or isnt a game. Very much expanded my own views on this. With a hypithetical universal basic income thought experiment to boot. timharford.com/2025/12/caut...

The absence of buying in response to the price move should be even more worrying for BTC treasurers though. Sure is a hell of lot easier to just be first...

Microstrategy market cap within spitting distance of its BTC NAV. Would make a great Wall-Street Bets trade from here, aggressively short MSTR and bring down the whole BTC market. Looking forward to the gleeful @alphaville.ft.com post on the subject and a @katie0martin.ft.com victory lap.

"government willing to consider income tax increase" could know double digits bps off the long end on its own i reckon. Just float it in the forecast period and the worst that can happen is you deny it was ever a thing.

People still happy to own the debt though. Reeves is desperately trying to project fiscal credibility and game the OBR while Trump drops shitcoins and rewrites the constitution in crayon. And yet 10yr Gilts yield 40bps more than treasuries. If things are really bad where are the bond vigilantes?

Plenty of big personalities pitching their own version of radical reform. I think Palmer Luckey and Anduril, who have clearly backed Trump for much longer, would be expecting a huge increase in their influence on defence and intelligence spend. I wonder what the Elon relationship is like there?
