I've been pretty good about avoiding Amazon, but Door Dash is insidious because no restaurants, even pizza places, have their own delivery drivers anymore.

Oh BTW, the first Dortmunder book (The Hot Rock) was apparently meant to be a Parker book, under the "Richard Stark" pen name, but Donald decided no and created a new character. So, because I still haven't gotten it from LAPL, I cannot say if it is as bleak as the other Parker novels.

I recommend the Dortmunder novels by Donald Westlake. Dortmunder attempts to pull off heists, with mixed results. He is a thief, but while it is not explicit, he steals, largely, from those who can afford it. Most importantly, though, these books are funny in a very sly way.

Y'know, if you think about it, the manager of Mudville's team in the poem "Casey at the Bat" did a pretty crappy job of putting together his batting order. Why would you put two terrible hitters (one described as a "lulu" and the other as a "cake") in front of your best hitter? It makes no sense!
