Proud of the DinoCon team for standing up for the community and for celebrating human art and artists ❤️ I was heartbroken and disappointed with that talk specifically, but being part of a community of incredible, creative, kind people who are so supportive of each other - that is special. ❤️

I do not use and will never use generative AI to make my plushie patterns or artwork. I enjoy the process too much and learn so much about each animal I make when drawing them, I will never let a machine take away this joy from me.

GenAI is absolutely vile for many reasons, and I have no patience for anyone who intentionally uses it.

Great news on #MesozoicArtII relevant to buyers in the USA -- I'm reliably informed that you can order direct from Bloomsbury's US site, and that the book qualifies for free shipping. I can't test that from here (as in the UK), but I hope it works out :) @sharkbitesteve.bsky.social

This paper has a lot of nice data that does seem to indicate an overlooked distinctiveness, but to do taxonomic revisions without any genetic data on living species should not be a thing in 2025. Even if a species is so rare that such data is difficult to obtain it would seem better to wait.

Here's the final cover we're going with on #MesozoicArtII, featuring an image by Anthony Hutchings. The book is already available for preorder online. Out September 2025, and oh boy is it a thing of beauty. #palaeoart #paleoart #books #dinosaurs
Book cover, with title in gold and subtitle and editor names in white. Main image is colour depiction of a Cretaceous forest floor by Anthony Hutchings, showing a psittacosaur group. At right, two individuals are having a face to face altercation of some sort. The animals are warm brown, with yellowish and orange tones on their undersides, black spots on their arms and shoulders, and long quills on the tail.
