The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie and his Orchestra is a restrained and focused take on big band. Tres bien. #pop #music #album

I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You by Aretha Franklin is a belter of a record, which showcases Aretha's voice and the music that underpins it. #pop #music #album

A good morning at Ulrome with 5 patch year ticks including two calling whoopers north, a wheezy brambling, a ring ouzel, mistle thrush and a couple of redwing. #yorkshirebirding

Bonelli's Warbler sp from Flamborough this afternoon. No calls heard. Also yellow-brow and brambling at Old Fall @flamboroughbird.bsky.social #yorkshirebirding

Delighted to be kicking off the migweek festivities with the guided walk tomorrow. It's going to be a stiff wind but we shall see what we can rustle up. #birding

Completely agree. It was one of those vinyls at home from my dad's collection that I never played. Wish I had now.

Bummed by The Happy Mondays is the template to baggy and Madchester. Not quite hitting the heights of Pills... But very decent. #pop #album #music

The Cars self titled album is a stripped down new wave belter with the chops of a more muscular rock album. #pop #album #music

Maybe I'm talking crap. Jason Peirce is so high it could be anything.

Live at the Regal by BB King is a master at work. Lucille and his voice doing call and response and the crowd eating from the palm of his hand. Fabulous. #pop #music #album

We're only in it for the money by Mothers of Invention. Eclectic and skewering the man. I found it humourless and sad, as everyone was othered. Zappa is obviously able to conjure up a variety of styles but with little affection. #pop #music #album

Playing with Fire by Spacemen 3 is at the far out end of shoegaze. Hypnotic stuff. #pop #music #album

Duck Rock by Malcolm McLaren. What a surprise! Wildly eclectic, vibrant and alive, bouncing between early hip-hop and South African sounds with enormous energy. Double Dutch sounds like it’s about to turn into Call Me Al. #pop #music #album

Apocalypse 91 by Public Enemy is urgent and crowded Hiphop but the production makes it hard to enjoy with little separation and bass. Bring tha noize is fun! #pop #album #music

Pelican West by Haircut 100. Just ridiculously bright and buoyant. Funky guitars, springy bass, loads of percussion and proper pop songs. The first half in particular is fantastic. King Size sounds like champagne corks popping. Drops off a little towards the end, but enormous fun. #music #pop #album

Hunting High and Low by A-Ha. Always loved The Sun Always Shines on T.V. and it remains comfortably the highlight alongside Take On Me The rest is pleasant 80s synth-pop, but never gets close to that peak. #pop #music #album

Songs from the Big Chair by Tears for Fears. The singles are absolute monsters. The album tracks are decent enough, but there's a noticeable drop from the peaks. Good album, just not consistently great. #pop #music #album

Gram Parsons with Grievous Angel. Cosmic American music apparently. Slightly rock and roll inflected country in my view. Good songs. Not really my style. #pop #music #album
