But even if you did play these remakes first, it's presented so faithfully that your experience is far from ruined, everyone needs to play sky 1 & 2, and now there are 2 great ways to do it

The Orminthebox "True Path" would be to play through the original versions of every Trails/Kiseki, then when you get to where the games are currently at (Kai iirc) circle back to these remakes. They are calling it "Release order" and it's always correct <- guy who did not do this

This remake really aught to be studied by anyone seeking to readapt anything, it's seriously great. I do think it is still VERY worth playing the original, as I think the smaller scale of 'the game itself' lends well to the grounding of the tale

Ormin 📦 @orminthebox.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Really the only thing I could complain about is Falcoms modern 2d art is pretty bland and generic, and all of the fun new battle mechanics do serve to make the game a touch easier. And both of those can be solved with a quick portrait swap mod and playing on Hard/Nightmare

Ormin 📦 @orminthebox.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Big milestone game for the year almost complete, only took me 2.5 forevers and I still gotta get hit with the hook, but what a phenomenal remake. Possibly the most faithful, reverent, perfectly indulgent remake ever.

Hard to pare it down, but I think my personality/tastes distinctly shifted in correlation with when I played all these. Either earlier on in my life, or to greater degree than other games that could go here, like Spyro, FFX, Shadowbringers, League(unfortch), Portal, Subahibi, Muv-Luv, or Earthbound

fwiw, I think the actual keyboard is prob only useful if you have a background of music/piano that makes the interface familiar/intuitive, you can make midi sounds happen on pc without one
