Your feed now contains one Red Deer and several complimentary ferns. Enjoy.
A Red Deer looks through a curtain of green ferns with its antlers tangled in leafy fronds, giving the impression it's accidentally wearing a woodland hat. The softly blurred background creates a peaceful forest scene.

Evidence of coastal change is a vital part of SCAPE’s coastal surveys - but it’s not always easy to picture change over time. Our fantastic volunteers lined up along the position of the shoreline at Tentsmuir and the Eden Estuary 120 years ago, showing how much the coastal landscape has changed.
On the Eden Estuary erosion is at work, revealing hidden archaeological sites or washing them away forever. In parts of Tentsmuir the old shoreline is now almost completely out of sight, showing just how dramatic this change has been.

Ness of Brodgar Excavation
By Bernie Bell. I never thought I’d be writing that!   Excavations at the Ness of Brodgar were thought to have ended with the digging season of 2024. Then Time Team stepped in and did Ground Penetrating Radar which appeared to show something extra-ordinary. The People of the Ness kept their cards close to their chests (pun totally intended), and revealed nothing but the fact that there would be a limited short term dig in July 2026.
