but there *is* that person, and is that a glint of feeling? emotion? something human, finally, peeking through? not quite hope, but want, for certain, doubt too finally, someone who may be your equal. who actually can stay with you for an eternity and that is tempting to anyone

there's that relief of finding the one other person in the world to be like you and to be your balance and for you to be theirs and yes there are great many plans of horrid things you've become numb to over the millennia of running and suffering, – which all still must happen, of course

blatant enemies to lovers is not my thing just because all that happens during enemies tends to put me off greatly im hopeful that the books will show a bit more of the darkling as a character, but for whatever ill write, i feel quite comfortable in making him more hesitant, less sure

there's also that the show manages to show a lot more in terms of perspective, as a book is very limited to one chara (which is fair and fine!) but the way ben barnes played darkling definitely helped with a lot of— understanding of him? he just added a lot more nuance and emotion and I adore that

i'll def finish the trilogy at least, and probably some other books for better understanding of the world and magic system but it's nice to sort of. idk feel less Indignation about canon? where I look at the book, I look at the show— and then I take bits and pieces and put them all into blender :)

blue is reminded that they can actually read books not at a snail's pace finishing up shadow and bone book, and man am I glad with certain choices they made for the netflix show casting for mal, alina, even the darkling, then mal overall as a character

went to a museum. got Very inspired for darklina writing. which is Good. but also *stares at wips of writing and painting that already exists for multiple marvel things* atp I'll make a circle of things I develop an interest in and then diagram how I bump between them chaotically

god i love slowly going through fics and remembering what kind of story writing works how for me some things are just plain indulgence and are easy so, in writing and pacing and lack of obstacles, and i welcome it so others are more complex, twined with care and attention, slow but fascinating
