A fence isn't enough. The borders between Russia/Belarus and the Baltic countries need to be militarized. Build + staff underground bunkers along the border. Deploy sensors to detect incursions. Have pilots ready with attack FPVs + bomber UAVs to respond to any incursions with lethal force.

I'd be curious if any other fixed wing planes are used for this -- Mirage, etc. There was a report yesterday that Ukraine used the 30mm cannon on a Mirage to intercept a Banderol missile. I'm guessing that Ukraine has more F16s than Mirages, and maybe they just use Mirage in a single sector?

It's time to respond by hitting the Kerch bridge with FP7 ballistic missiles. Hopefully they will soon be sufficiently accurate to hit the bridge.

I'm sure Russian soldiers are loving the new DIY-refined aviation fuels that are now being supplied for Russian helicopters and planes ever since most of the major refineries went offline. The new stuff probably makes every flight more exciting, adding an additional layer of suspense.

Ukraine has been able to hit Perm and Yekaterinburg. Izhevsk is closer than those cities. I hope this site gets a visit from a combination of FP1s and Flamingos.

If Russia is actively using T54 or T55 tanks in 2026, they're probably low in inventories of T72 or anything newer. I'm not saying they have zero tanks newer than this one, but they probably wouldn't be using a T54 if they had large inventories of T72 or newer tanks.

This needs to be scaled. The best way to stop Russia is not to cause attrition to Russians in Ukraine. The best way is to attrit the Russian army inside Russia. As Russia mobilizes troops, the buses, trains, transport vehicles, etc carrying them should be hit inside Russia before the border.

And she wasn't indicted. How is this not wire fraud or embezzlement? She should be indicted on felony counts, but she won't be. Innocent people of Venezuelan or Haitian descent get locked up in cages in Florida just because of where they were born while politicians who steal face no penalties.

This is exactly right. Trump cannot personally profit from trade deals with Denmark or Canada because they won't bribe him. That's why he has good relations with Russia, N Korea, countries in the Middle East, etc. He has more opportunities to personally make $ by doing deals with autocrats.

The exchange of political prisoners for lifting sanctions has now been done repeatedly by the USA. Twice with Belarus & now the proposal with Russia. It's a pretext to help Putin that Trump can justify as being done for "humanitarian reasons." Somewhere, there is a quid-pro-quo for Trump or family

Bo French talks about how "Americans have been displaced by foreigners". There's no rule in TX that a white person has to leave the state if a brown person moves in. The presence of brown-skinned people in TX does not mean white people are being "displaced". Displacement/replacement is a fallacy.

The United Nations is dead. A majority of the security council countries now completely disregard international law. The world order is changing. It's hard to say where this will go, but there are some potential dark outcomes within the range of possibilities in the coming decade.

Netanyahu is an a$$hole. ... and a war criminal. And a liar. I absolutely support the right of Israel to exist and to defend itself when it is attacked. I don't support the right of a small cadre of authoritarian fascists in the Israeli government to execute an active campaign of slow genocide.

The narrative from the far Left on Russia's invasion of Ukraine is non-sensical. Part of the far-Left spews nonsense rhetoric that the USA is only imperialist force in the world. Then another part of the Left makes illogical excuses as they harbor sentimentality for the USSR. Dishonest narratives.

Amodei, Altman, Musk, etc probably just want to claim that: 1) AI needs to be regulated. 2) Only American companies will "be safe" 3) That means that Chinese AI models should be banned and smaller companies should not be allowed to be in the market unless they get special + costly gov't permission.

Europe and Ukraine should maintain maximal pressure on Russia. G20 countries with leaders who care about human rights should refuse to attend if Putin attends. Still, I disagree that the war can only end with a total defeat of Russia. That may happen. I hope so. But it could also end in a freeze.

ordinary-observer.bsky.social @ordinary-observer.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Russia is an authoritarian country. Putin could make a speech TOMORROW and say that Russia is going to freeze the conflict and declare victory because the nazi west is conspiring against it. This doesn't mean that European countries should return to business as usual with Russia or give in.

This statement is coming from a guy who arranged for the White House front lawn to be used for WFC fighting during the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Instead of celebrating our history of democracy, he boosts his buddy's (and donor's) fighting league business.

I cannot tell for sure, but these nets appear to be made out of some type of plastic material, in which case the netting is probably highly flammable. If there's any ignition at the site and any oil/fuel tank catches fire, the netting over the site may spread fire throughout the site.

Developing a hotel in Tbilisi would give Trump an easy way to continue to take money from Putin-linked Russian oligarchs. It's better than doing it in Florida because the USA government has no jurisdiction to investigate illegal USA Emoluments Clause violations in Georgia.

I used to wonder if European countries + Canada would cancel orders for the F35 due to concerns that the USA would one day refuse to ship spare parts. But maybe they'll just stop buying F35 over concerns that Lockheed + the USA government are too incompetent to be able to reliably ship spare parts.

European countries should take a more-active role in seizing Russian shadow-fleet ships transiting the Baltic Sea, North Sea and Mediterranean Sea as well as the English channel. Russia's recent attacks on European countries aren't "hybrid attacks". They're state-sponsored terrorism.

Was this a daytime strike? If so then they probably hit some skilled assembly workers, engineers, and/or managers at the company. Russian drones are truly used for terrorism. They hit buses, grocery stores, heating plants in winter... It's reasonable to also hit the engineering/assembly crews.

Absurd. Canada is not a colony of the USA. It's an independent country. Canada can sell their oil products, Potash fertilizer, maple syrup, hockey sticks, metals, minerals and whatever else to any country in the world. USA trade extortion + other threats will only isolate + weaken the USA economy.

Meanwhile, the USA is lifting sanctions on Belarus to make it easier for the Russian military to import sanctioned components for weapons through Belarus. Trump's family is happy to do business deals with Russians for money while the Russians coordinate attacks on the USA military with Iran+Houthis

Any lifting of sanctions against Belarus creates a backdoor that allows Russia to import sanctioned weapons components and machinery for producing weapons through Belarus. People in the USA government - CIA, etc - know this. The Trump team is cutting these deals knowing that they're helping Putin .

Not really. Russians attacked civilians on a train from Ukraine to Poland shortly after Boris Johnson took an earlier train. Russians weren't trying to kill Johnson. They were trying to scare Europeans who help Ukraine away from visiting Ukraine again to provide more aid in the future.

This intimidation is pretty silly. Members of EU air forces must be scratching their heads. If there was an actual war and Russians tried to fly a Tu-95 + some Su-33s over Scandinavia, they would be destroyed by Meteor missiles from Swedish Gripens before they even came within 50km of Finland.

But negotiators should push an agreement on a 100% mutual ceasefire for all long-range air attacks. I doubt Putin would agree unless Russian industry & military infrastructure are significantly damaged first. If Russia stops bombing energy they'll switch to terrorizing hospitals, universities, etc.
