During this absolutely horrific day, russia murdered at least 7 people and wounded 114 more🧵 These aren’t just numbers. These are human lives. Please don’t let this become routine. Help fight this, through both words and actions: u24.gov.ua/sky-defense?...

People are wrong to argue that Israel can't have committed genocide in Gaza because an insufficient number of people have been killed. The Genocide Convention doesn't have a quantitative requirement. Srebrenica saw 8000 people (~0.6% of Bosnian Muslims) killed and was ruled to constitute genocide.

The decision to overturn Folarin Balogun's red card shows Gianni Infantino will simply do anything to appease the US President - even ripping up very basic rules

With him and Harborne you could almost be forgiven for thinking Farage might have a conflict of interest in his favourable policy platform on crypto if he wasn't so scrupulous

FIFA are unbelievably brazen in trying to suck up to Trump at every opportunity to get away with all the revolting ways they've been maximising the money they can extract from the world cup - at the cost of fans. Trump and Infantino are as vulgar and shameless as each other. Two birds of a feather.

Great read. It's very hard to know the truth of transfer news with certain client journalist transferluencers who parrot talking points from agents and clubs or pretend to know more than they do. As you say, Chelsea came across as very entitled and, thankfully, SAFC acted sensibly and with strength.

Toxic? Hardly - every journalist under the sun was reporting Xhaka's agents (who work for him) were pushing for the move. Anyone can see lots of fans were criticising him. It's not unreasonable to ask how opinions of Xhaka might have changed as a result, though it seems to be water under the bridge.

orbitabsorb.bsky.social @orbitabsorb.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
For the perception or reality of him pushing to leave. Lots of fans have been sharply criticising him for it. That feeling isn't going to just go away. Everyone has an opinion, and lots of people believe his agents were trying to make the move happen. We don't know the full set of facts right now.

orbitabsorb.bsky.social @orbitabsorb.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
While Xhaka has been brilliant for us, the consensus view was that he was pushing for the move. Is his position tenable? How will he now be viewed by his teammates and the fans (many of whom have been criticising him)? Unless a huge misunderstanding is cleared up, I expect lots of fans to boo him.

He clearly wants to go, so I think it's time to get someone like Højbjerg from Marseille in to replace him. Very similar type of player and leader and level of quality and experience. Make Chelsea pay a fair fee to show we won't be pushovers and show the players nobody is bigger than the club.

orbitabsorb.bsky.social @orbitabsorb.bsky.social · 01/07/2026
He was great the first few matches in the season (which I think people forgot) and when he came back from a severe injury that really disrupted his season. His turnovers, passes to start moves, and presence as a second striker are so impactful
110
orbitabsorb.bsky.social @orbitabsorb.bsky.social · 30/06/2026
If he wants to go, he should. Given his leadership role it'd only be destructive to force him to stay. However, you can't accept a lowball offer like 8 million, what a joke. I'd be inclined to get what we can for him and use the fee to buy Højbjerg to replace him. Very similar player and leader.

Less than half the reported 17.3 million Sunderland paid for him last season? With the impact he's had? And how much Alonso and Chelsea are briefing every journalist they can that they want him? Imbecilic to even consider submitting an offer that low. Insulting to both Sunderland and Xhaka.

No I think a picture of those who led the Brexit campaign groups and were actually responsible for the result would sum up the referendum better and yes that's why and how he's targeting Sunderland (among many other places) but still none of that makes it the spiritual home of Brexit

how much do you think Diarra's tackles/interceptions, passes, and runs contributed to the result?
000
orbitabsorb.bsky.social @orbitabsorb.bsky.social · 12/04/2026
Think Diarra is motm so far given the number of times he's won the ball back, his playmaking, and the runs he's made. Looks like either team could win and doesn't feel like it'll end a draw.

Sunderland announcing its result first wasn't unique to the Brexit referendum and didn't change the result elsewhere. Yes, the vote was against the city's self-interest. The same is true for the country as a whole. Neither of these things makes Sunderland the spiritual home of Brexit.

Think they maxed out the number of players loaned out in January, if not before, plus we've lacked depth on the bench

orbitabsorb.bsky.social @orbitabsorb.bsky.social · 10/04/2026
Plenty of other constituencies voted for Brexit by bigger margins (up to just under 75%). And yes, there are Reform supporters in the crowd, but that's the same as any other club. It's also not the point you made originally anyway. You said Sunderland was the spiritual home of Brexit. It isn't.

Sunderland the spiritual home of Brexit? Even though plenty of other areas voted to leave by bigger margins? Is Farage, Tice, Banks, Gove, or Johnson from Sunderland?
