Path of Peril should be Withering Curse IMO, just didn't have one Culling Ritual for my meta specifically was great. Solo'd Sac & even threatened to ramp 4 -> 6 mana bc of maps vs UW so they had to counter it.

Sideboard notes: Nowhere to Run was in a stock list, but we have Scales/Bogles/Spirits players The game I cast Invoke Despair I lost vs Elementals. Didn't have much for this MU, but I would maybe shave an Invoke for something else despite loving this card

Some choices: Trespasser vs Sentinel split - mostly bc we have more Aggro than Fang, etc Would ideally like a Emeritus of Abundance in the MD Murderous Rider - we're normally heavy Control, heavy Aggro. Replaced Maelstrom Pulse for instant speed PW hate. Same for Tear Asunder

Fun fact about SCG Baltimore before I post my recap... 5 of the 11 Top 32nd Broodscale lists (as denoted on Melee) dodged Izzet Prowess - the other most played deck - all Event (according to Melee tournament page)

Went about 30% of the way through my recap video before I realized that due to the size of the combined Events, I hadn't calculated about a round and a half of results in my calculator Sooooo we're starting over everyooooneeee

Tron had a high win% last weekend against the top 3 presence decks (Prowess, Goryo's, Esper Blink) but struggled against the Combo decks. It's a good place to be, but this weekend Combo was higher presence

I don't think Tron is struggling really, it's just a deck that's targeting a specific section of the metagame. Tron presents a threat and demands an answer, but doesn't interact very well. Broodscale has one instant win game plan people have to deal with, but has room for other interaction

Why does this matter? Well, when you have like 5 or so lists in the same grouping, it starts becoming significant enough to look at. I'd also like to think this is how game designers approach the decks before deciding on balance changes like bans. Like, hope, wish.

By my count we have 6 Tron variants with distinct enough lists to separate them out. We also have at least 5 variants of Broodscale Combo that meet the distinct criteria as well. All from this weekend.

I have a job interview tomorrow immediately after work, so I'll be trying to get a liiiittle extra sleep (11 PM is my hope, work 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM, then intv). Going to chug away at this for another hour, study a bit, then sleep. Finishing it tomorrow!

So today was also our baby shower - so after that while my wife took a nap I finished the 226 changes to the 404 person China RC Our fridge also broke, so when we got home we needed to throw out a ton of groceries that went bad, which sucked. So we also had to eat out.

Just to set everyone's expectations - I'm going to effort having the recap, stats & video all out tomorrow for China + USA Regional Championship. I've been able to do a bit of work today, but the archetype renaming for China was a lot of heavy lifting. More info in thread:

Sort of. Nowadays people submit via Melee so it's automatically done based on what people submit. Back in the day, they organized it themselves to post the lists by end-of-event.for their website. Probably made it easier to see a few key cards & move on
