i watched these two shows yesterday and they both had similar paintings in their background.

a painting on dark matter, season 2 of a road perspective with a man in the foreground.

a painting on the original little house on the prairie with Mr. Edwards in the foreground.

portland has seen worse, but this is awful, and it smells horrible too.

air quality index in portland oregon, screen shot shows air coming in above 200.

to wear it. she beaded it. i was trying to bead sth for our nephew. this book, abt family drama, death, science fiction, writing, fashion, reconnecting, disability, sisters, (etc, etc) is so good. i read Nnedi’s memoir just before this, which i recommend doing. i hope i can buy one to be signed. 2/2

this is a screenshot of the audiobook “death of the author.” The book cover features a blue and red/orange pattern. libby, the reading app, has it set in an earthy brown background. there is a silhouette of an African woman on the cover.

this is a photo of the leather amulet my sister beaded and part of a large print gingham dress in blue and orange red, which are colors i love. taken on the bus today.

idk how people are shocked by this. it’s been going on since like ‘uniteblue’ days and probably before. & yes, it’s both sides.

people should plant more fall blooms in portland. i saw a clump of pretty cosmos this morning, some little red and white flowers and a small batch of hydrangea hanging on. this chicory was a weed but still nice contrast with the leaves.

a bright blue chicory flower with a background of green grass and fall leaves in various brown and yellow.

i think everyone has like 5-10 leaf photos they’ve taken that they just really like.

concrete background. a small hawthorn leaf sits next to a larger (about 8 times it’s size) buttery yellowed leaf - the edges are slightly curled upward. it has a little brown too. it’s shaped like a spade or a heart with a stem out of the top. on the yellow leaf there’s big water droplets from the rain held by how the lead curled.

the best bread box is an ikea lixhult + grejig combo. it’s metal, it’s going to last forever. keeps mice out. you can put magnets on it and stickers, it’s large enough for a lot of bread & it’s $75. you will not find anything of this capacity for this price. you’re welcome.

it’s also sort of a road of sorts. it reminds me of reading an old settler book about oregon that describes the walamet and columbia as roads. i can’t remember the name.

i grabbed a random stick from my yard to use to prop up my house plant and it has some fuzzy little moss on it. it’s almost time for spautumn.

it’s oatmeal o’clock! we shared like 2/3 of our berry haul. i hope it’s a source of healing & small reminder of reciprocity for everyone.

i usually take spiders outside but this one likes my string of pearls pot & the euphorbia. it’s also doubled in size in about a month. it’s almost a half inch long. so it’s likely eating some plant bugs i guess. should i take it outside?

one of my favorite photos of our bikes…

two bikes lean against a tiled blue green wall in front of a convenience store. a pink spoke light glows on the front tire. a spoke card on a back tire.

our son and i went on a transit adventure on labor day. the 71 should just be another max line lol… sorry not sorry laurelhurst. clackamas to cascade station could get a lot of kids to school & people to work very quickly. behold, the max on its way to the airport:

this is the hampton silversmith stainless 235 spoon. the sensory & neurodivergent spoon debate is over. manufacturer these again. they’re likely from the 90s. you will be less crabby & not even know why if you use this spoon. the only thing comparable is at ikea, but it’s not the same.

the best spoon in the world is photographed atop a white piece of styrofoam, next to a penny.

yes - obvious parent shaming & ablism. i won't dignify the original post with a click or share because it was intentionally posted to get people to say these things or interact. i have been avoiding responding to stuff like this bc half the time: it's a bot. put energy elsewhere. ...anywhere.

a newspaper cartoon of two parents on a bench wiht their children. a blonde parent has a book and so does their kid. the brown haired parent has a text bubble that says, "How do you get your child to read books?" while holding a cell phone along their kid. i am posting this because it is a lazy example of rage baiting, shaming and snobbery. it's also ableist. if you come across a post with this, or something similar, don't comment or like it. imagine if people didn't give their energy things like this.

if everyone could do this, that would be great. as a reminder, Indigenous People’s Day was taken off calendars this year. www.instagram.com/reel/DLsJIxm... #landback #4rthofjuly #indigenous #colonizerholidays

screenshot of Birdie Sam’s Instagram @showme_yourmask that has text of what she’s saying, part of which is “aggressively positive in those comments sections” the rest is asking folks to find indigenous content online and comment/like those posts so the algorithms will be forced to show them instead of july four posts. the screenshot shows her, an indigenous woman with glasses and long fur earrings in from of a blue background with lights.

one of the new buildings by my house has bird dots on it. i am glad. but i wish they were more aesthetic. i wonder if there was patterns on glass like the one made here that could be used instead. a sticker made to look like etched surface maybe? anyway: dbird.org
