Thinking about this again! Throughout ARR, Ahtyn was on an epic quest to find A Worthy Liege and Ashe was still deciding whether she would follow in her father's footsteps (doing lots of unsanctioned killing). Ahtyn didn't trust Ashe's motives at that point and Ashe thought Ahtyn needed to grow up.
