Wars of Storm and Ash. [ #FFXVI #FF16 ]

Digital illustration of Barnabas Tharmr, Dion Lesage, Sleipnir Harbard and Terence Bellamie as well as the eikons Odin and Bahamut from Final Fantasy XVI (16) in a poster-like composition. Terence and Sleipnir are locking weapons at the bottom, while Barnabas and Dion above them are preparing to do so. Bahamut and Odin are facing each other in the stormy sky in the background.

If there's something in 16 I desperately need more info on then it's absolutely the time Jill and Dion spent together. They must have had so much to talk about! #FF16 #FinalFantasyXVI

the trailers sure made it seem that way 😂 but I was so pleasantly surprised by the gentle caring core he always maintained. easily diverted from vengeance quest by being asked to hand out soup 🥹 valjean ass

it would have been kinda cool for the swing of oh no I killed him to oh well no but I think I'm gonna have to kill him before finally getting all the relevant info. something rising from the ashes. ah well thought experiments

interesting narrative choice to have a MC go on this whole journey to accept and move on from a crime he didn't commit to the degree he thought he did & that also didn't fundamentally damage or even change the important relationship involved (the shadow of a falling piano appears over dion's head)

I don't hate that it was a thing done out of love & protection, but it doesn't rly impact him 🤔 he was already sickly and that only matters when they need it to anyway

also I'm always thinking about greed and ling. wtf is supernatural possession traumatize the thing using you as a vessel right back

onlyforgiveness.bsky.social @onlyforgiveness.bsky.social · 04/04/2026

it could have even been played like him thinking he was smarter than ultima and writing off the risk in his hunger for knowledge, and there being consequences for it. some arrogance from a young lordling who already defied death! you know. an intriguing character flaw.

120

onlyforgiveness.bsky.social @onlyforgiveness.bsky.social · 04/04/2026

I feel like having him do ruthless but well intentioned means to an end stuff while having ultima embedded in himself was a slam dunk for creating tension and doubt with the audience

version of 16 in my head where the logo made more sense bc you the player weren't sure if josh Came Back Wrong and cwive didn't reconcile with himself (or his brother) until the twinside team up

"why 13 darknesses" idk pal. why do wizards say magic words and wave a wand to cast spells. why does the delorean have to go 88 mph. why do jedi meditate. why do benders do martial arts to control the elements.

Dion Lesage from Final Fantasy 16 redrawn as the ‘Horny Grip’ meme. He is thinking of Terence.

poor Terence 😭 😂 he really developed that air of calm and patience and self-possession in those years. probably out of pure necessity for his survival

010

onlyforgiveness.bsky.social @onlyforgiveness.bsky.social · 03/04/2026

Terence, age 16, sleepless because Dion said I have no need of the Seventy-Two, Terence, if only you will intercede on behalf of my soul when the time comes. and then he went back to eating his croissant

240

onlyforgiveness.bsky.social @onlyforgiveness.bsky.social · 03/04/2026

he's trying to keep his feelings in check meanwhile Dion is like haha we're like the moon&metia but if metia decided he no longer wished to roam & chose to stay forever by the moon's side after years of learning from one another & the moon was undone by such kindness... hey check out this backflip

[logos spoilers] "I would remember what it is to be wanted" is a deranged thing to write if you're not already hooking up. but considering the anarchy letter, I like the comedy of Terence being tormented by Dion saying things recreationally

dion got his head hit so hard by odin at belenus tor that it gave him brain damage and that’s why he’s writing a letter to terence while they’re in the same room

onlyforgiveness.bsky.social @onlyforgiveness.bsky.social · 02/04/2026

the degree to which Harpo is like "you shouldn't blame him!!!!! for anything ever!!!!!! my boy!!!!!" #1 dion apologist 😂

110

onlyforgiveness.bsky.social @onlyforgiveness.bsky.social · 02/04/2026

LOOOOOOOOL god the part in his letter about the beauty of Terence's stance or whatever. Terence standing over Harpo's shoulder like yeah don't redact that it's fine. Now All Of Valisthea Knows-- 🦵 🍑 🐉

130

onlyforgiveness.bsky.social @onlyforgiveness.bsky.social · 02/04/2026

it's still About Dion but I also find it very interesting that if the conceit is that they're letters ter chose for a persuasive purpose, some of the early selections especially are not exactly flattering! but they do show the arc of someone capable of change and doubt... little PR narrative 😂

110

onlyforgiveness.bsky.social @onlyforgiveness.bsky.social · 02/04/2026

he held that grudge lmao 😂 sir denis is gonna be like damn ok you run your mouth once and it follows you forever but when the Dreadwyrm blows up a city an old man says "🥺 but he was literally nice..."

120

onlyforgiveness.bsky.social @onlyforgiveness.bsky.social · 02/04/2026

it's honestly probably not sth they thought about but regardless at least some tasty kernels of personality can be gleaned lmao

110

onlyforgiveness.bsky.social @onlyforgiveness.bsky.social · 02/04/2026

also that terence was like yeah everyone can know that I got called a ho that one time if sir denis' legacy is a little hater with a thrice broken nose who can't win tourneys lmao

220

onlyforgiveness.bsky.social @onlyforgiveness.bsky.social · 02/04/2026

yeah i wish we had more direct information 😭 but in the meantime I am sprinting with the implied characterizations of holding letters that long especially of treasonous sentiments. and also that Dion specifically said you must share the real me with no one and Terence said lol lmao hit publish
