Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 3hFunny to think Shadyside was the Lawrenceville of its day. Cheap housing and a hangout for 'freaks,' soon to become a fine respectable hood.....lol 000
Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 3h"Holiday Bar" (straights) Uh, not in my day it wasn't!! Yeah, I know they meant squares. And yeah, crazy to think back to the 70s and how grimy the city still was even then. 100
Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 07/10/2026If this is the clear stuff, mixing a little 7Up/Sprite/ginger ale makes it a wee bit more tolerable. (like, well, slightly flat 7Up, Sprite or ginger ale...) 010
Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Today I learned that regional porn magazines existed! (But seriously, had no idea. Sounds like a wild gig.) 010
Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 05/10/2026This made me cry. A little for me, but mostly for so many others. Cities and places with resources, support, etc. take in the people other areas of the country discard. 011
Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Exactly! We had to understand it well to survive. I studied the people in my hometown/region like I was a sociology major & knowing them was the only way I could pass. So many of us got the fuck out the first chance we could. 0390
Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Whew it got dusty in here for a second. Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes. 010
Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I'm really feeling like just giving up on writing. My novel is stuck in a ditch. Thing is, it's awfully hard to write about people's social interactions - even fictional ones - when I'm kinda challenged in the social skills department myself. 000

Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Hi, folks. Writer, native Yinzer now in Pacific Time. Thinking of following me? I post on a wide array of topics. If your feed is all reposts from other sources, single topic content, lots of your OF/JFF grind, or just a constant flood of posts I will block, sorry. All the best, though! 001
Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 28/09/2026The second, though, was a small liberal arts school. I was on the school newspaper; we did several stories about campus rape. Every segment of the school's administration, security team, etc. shut our access down at every turn. A member of our staff was one of the victims. They never got justice. 000
Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I went to college twice - once in the late 80s, and again in the 2010s to finish my BA (long story). The first had a dozen or so Greek organizations and one known specifically to be the least safe for women, so it was a known thing, an institution even then. 100

Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I remember the Jeff Hiller autobiography had an unfortunate typo on the spine of its jacket, and it was found after the first printing and corrected. Knowing Jeff Hiller he probably joked about it, but yikes, seeing that when one's book is on an endcap at B&N would drive me mad... 120
Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Somebody Somewhere is too low. Downton Abbey is ranked way too high. And Wonderfalls is not anywhere on the list. (Though I guess with only 3 aired episodes it had its handicaps.) 000
Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Me neither! I don't know how that could be but....it just never happened. (I mean, I've seen some John Waters movies often enough to recite the dialogue.....) 000

Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Yep. It's just so insane. My husband grew up in Europe and he's shocked at what we pay in the States for most prescriptions, even with coverage. 040
Patrick @onequietcorner.bsky.social · 22/09/2026I live a few hours away from the border and many older residents are going to Mexico for dental services - which, even if they have Medicare or medical coverage aren't included anyway. The price differences are astonishing and the MX dental care is, by all accounts, outstanding. 150
