The Coroner issued a PFD addressing a range of matters arising from the inquest. This included the lack of awareness amongst healthcare staff of the food refusal policy that resulted in a failure to consider hospital transfers for prisoners severely weakened by weight loss;

In May 2025, the Parole Board concluded its review of the Claimant’s case and decided not to direct his release from prison. At two separate points in its decision, it referred to the Claimant’s licence automatically terminating after two years in the community. This was and is an impossibility;

And SJ successfully represented a hunt monitor charged with aggravated trespass after he contended he was disrupting an illegal fox hunt. The defendant was convicted in the magistrates court. After submissions were made, the prosecution conceded the appeal in the Crown Court.

Sarah-Jane Ewart successfully represented a protestor in an appeal against a conviction for wilfully obstructing a highway, arising out of a slow march protest for Just Stop Oil. SJ made proportionality arguments & submissions on the public interest. In the end the prosecution conceded the appeal.
