There's finally a monument to the 122 boys from my school given HIV and other fatal viruses by contaminated blood. There's not a single haemophiliac from the time I was there that wasn't affected

Just saying, if someone was in a rubber boat alongside another rubber boat when Border Force arrived, it's a reasonable assumption that they are acting together and that individual should be detained until their immigration status can be determined.

Is it me or is it odd that wheelchair users being pushed round parkruns are classed the same as wheelchair users who push themselves?

Why, as a society, do we take people who were good at PE seriously?

Bought holiday insurance and had to declare the cause of my amputation as they consider it an ongoing condition as I see a prostheticist once a year to ensure it still fits. I've not received any treatment for the osteomyelitis for 27 years. 1/2

Local NHS complaints team have a published telephone number but they don't answer due to "patient confidentiality"? Why publish it then?

This is why being disabled is so tiring. All the admin. Was due a hospital appointment today. Less than 4 hours before it, it was cancelled due to being the "wrong clinic". Now I have to sort that out. A first appointment was moved from 28/10/26 to 07/04/27 for a different clinic today too

Just seen that people from the Lewes derailment still haven't got their belongings back. This is what bothers me as a wheelchair user. I've been told I'd be evacuated without my chair and get it back later. Not sure what I'd do for a week without my chair

If you're a holiday firm and you have a message about unexpectedly high call volumes in the summer, I suspect you either don't understand your business or are run by idiots. Was on hold for over an hour yesterday and just hit the hour again today. No other way to organise assistance

Four times this month I've had to explain to medics that BMI is totally useless as a measure for people like me. Because of my spinal defect I was already disproportionate before my amputations. Should I count my height with or without prostheses? They need better training

If 'the establishment' is all powerful as some claim, I'm surprised more 'enemies of the establishment' aren't turning up in bin bags wearing stockings with an orange involved

I've seen a couple of news stories about people who are missing vital medication due to baggage issues. I always make sure it's in my carry-on so it's harder to become separated from it. I can't believe other people don't, esp where it's difficult to go even a day without it

It's just a shame that he didn't live long enough to need a wheelchair so I could have followed his advice and tipped him out of the chair and dragged him to the nearest Job Centre

I had a test and the results were enough for the sample to be referred to the national reference lab for further testing and for the local health protection team to phone me and ask lots of questions. 1/2

I'd love a plug in keyboard version of the microwriter. Used one at school and got pretty proficient. Was way better for me than writing.

It is shocking that people with a learning disability die much earlier than the general population. But once again, nobody has mentioned the even more shocking statistic that people from an ethnic minority who have a learning disability die much earlier still. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Over half of adults with learning difficulties do not live past 65, report says
The government says the findings are stark, while a campaign group says they should be "headline news".

It still amazes me that there's no standardisation about wheelchair ramps across train classes. I've seen several stations where there are 5 different ramps for use. An accident like this was inevitable GOV.UK share.google/u4B6vrUrB5qX...

I'm always puzzled when a hospital's major incident plan includes a public appeal for as many staff as possible to come in. That compromises at least the next two shifts, if not more. Also managing the skill mix when they arrive is complicated

As a disabled person, the way society interacts with your body is 'interesting'. We're regularly viewed as asexual yet aslo fetishised.

sorry to be ‘that guy’ but please be cautious when RTing a missing person post from an unofficial/unverified source. While many are genuine, sometimes the person has run away because they're a victim of domestic abuse. Thanks x

To renew my blue badge they want a copy of the award letter dated within the last 12 months. Problem is that the award letters are only issued at the point of awarding, not annually. I might just send them a photo of my stumps with a newspaper as proof of disability and date

In the days before pens like the Rotring isograph, there was the lining pen. The point was adjustable to alter the line thickness. My mum used them a lot as a trained "Lady Tracer" in a shipyard as tracing was one of the main ways of duplicating engineering drawings.

Found myself thinking about disability and sexuality this morning. A significant proportion of the disabled people I know are LGBTQ. Way more than the proportion in the wider population. I find this interesting
