To celebrate the release of "Painting the Worlds of Studio Ghibli", we have collaborated with Pie International to have a special gallery show featuring layouts from some of your favourite Ghibli films. During October you can check out the lovely landscapes in our gallery space.

The definitive collection of background art from all of Studio Ghibli's theatrical releases. A pile of art books can be seen in the backgrounf, up against a wall with some art hanging.

A look at several gallery pieces featuring art from Ghibli films.

I may have gone a little overboard with the TCAF haul this year...

A whole schwack of comics and zines laid out on a table, plus a couple very beautiful art prints and some fun stickers.

Yesterday’s ‘motivational’ quote in my diary scares me. Tezuka was an amazing cartoonist who really inspires me, but his lifestyle is definitely not something anyone should aspire to imitate…

A quote about Osamu Tezuka’s crazy manga output, 150 000 pages over the course of his 60 year life. 10 finished pages a day.

Reading “Ashita No Joe” and having to take breaks because the cartooning is too good, it’s overwhelming me. (And it’s a chunky 600 page volume…)

it's that time

text: turning the page to a new year

image: a two-panel black and white comic drawn on grid paper

a white rabbit furiously slams open a door, a stressed look on their face
"MESSAGE TO ALL BITCHES" the first speech bubble reads

a second, closer image of the same rabbit, eyebrows furrowed, sweat beading, mouth screaming "PLEASE SURVIVE"

Really really enjoyed reading VERSUS this week. A really strong start to a series that had me staying up late thinking about it. Kind of best to go in blind, imo! The writer is ONE, the same person behind One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100.

I was reading this and thought “Ah, this is a Harta series, isn’t it?” Looked it up and I was right! That publisher has such a distinctive look and storytelling vibe.

Guess who's coming to VanCAF?? The amazingly talent Kaori Tsurutani, creator of BL Metamorphosis, that's who! And I'll be right there with her as her interpreter (and the translator of her books)! Come hang out with us!!
