This wasn’t intended to be a football post, but if I do need to artificially bring myself down I can just think about the Coventry game this coming weekend 😜

As a general rule it can be decided in feeling upbeat ‘n’ positive and more confident when I wear a bit of make up to work. It also means I gave myself enough time in the morning to do it. Now I’m asking myself if my confidence and positivity is even justified

The thing is I don’t know if I could ever put up with that full time.

That was over around a 20 minute period and only counts people walking toward me or standing to my side as I walked past. The last one which was actually just as I found my friends was a woman with young children who made a really big show of drawing her friends attention to me to gawp & laugh at

Oh I did go with a friend, who’s recently realised they are non binary. Oh & earlier in the day I had some twat being transphobic and homophobic about me as he walked past, to the people he was with. I counted 10 people whose stare locked onto me before I found my friends.

Actually the general vibe was to be fair to positive about any of the political parties or politicians spoken about. Refreshing against given so much of social media is people saying what they don’t like or telling the world how purist they are.

Politics did come up but we all stayed on safe subjects, the Middle East was ruined too controversial. It was nice to talk to a bunch of regular people, safe that no one supported Reform UK & no one was calling Caroline Lucas a Tory who needs to leave the Greens cause she’s not radical enough.

I’m never going back to going out every weekend or anything close to that

I actually went out out this weekend. It was pre planned so wasn’t left holding a pint of milk & a cut loaf in my carpet slippers. It was to a queer venue in Medway. Very enjoyable and nice bunch of regulars. I’d defo go again although since I stopped drinking and got old…

Let’s see if those that want a change in leader, have the numbers. I don’t think they do?

Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
I don’t think they should risk rocking the boat but I guess at the same time they need better election results. I do feel though they are very well placed for a coalition with Labour were one needed after the next general election.

Sir Ed Davey under a bit of pressure after two resignations this week, with the latter confirming a leadership challenge attempt. I like what Ed has done with the Lib Dem’s, but for some reason everyone ignores them and they’re actually slipping in the polls, rather than gaining.

I could have kept quiet but in part it’s because I care about the Green Party & I think many at the top of the party are genuinely the nicest people, I thought this was such a misstep from the party. All but 1 Green MP voted against or abstained.

Going back to the Green Party policy. Zack himself tried to install two amendments. I think he’s shown very weak leadership in not doing more but that in itself shows he knew it wasn’t entirely right to let the policy pass to become official party policy as it was written.

AI is hugely problematic in so many ways although I do like how easy it is to check stuff in AI mode when googling rather than having to find the websites, search for the text, etc. Greater minds than me should be limiting the negative uses of it to safeguard individuals & humans as a whole.

Yes, no & yes. I think we all should agree Jews as well as Muslims have a right to exist sadly it isn’t the case. I don’t particularly want to defend Zionism because it’s created a huge amount of negatives over decades. I just argue Jews exist who want peace but identify with Zionism

I’m not going to pretend I am that knowledgeable on the definition in an exact sense. In deed, technically it might well be racist. It’s clear though it means different things to different people & Jewish members of the GP & further afield have said it just means a homeland & self destiny

Alongside its neighbours. But work needs to be done on both sides to stop retaliation strikes such as what started this whole thing on October 7th

I would argue that this view point does merge together Israel’s current politics & actions with the concept of whether it should exist at all. It probably shouldn’t have been created but it’s too late now & now without wanting to sound glib, needs to be forced to behave itself & live peacefully…

Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
The Greens have been the biggest ally of queer people, but that doesn’t give them a free pass and many people within the GP have expressed deep concerns about this. Lib Dem’s who I usually vote for have reported the GP to the EHRC for what they believe to be a breach of the Equalities Act.

I don’t disagree with what you’ve written but I do disagree that you can right all the wrongs of the past now. I’d also rather focus on peace and saving lives than worrying about bits of land. Israel needs what Germany got after WWII to educate it out of the grip of the far right.

Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
That’s fine, although it’s 2026 not the 19th century so we have to deal with what’s today’s reality. Imagine you were proposing Scotland run a singular state across England & Wales, it would cause friction at best & it’s clearly much more problematic given what’s happened to believe that’d work

Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
I’m Polysexual and Non-binary. I’m trying to figure out the angle to your question but I’m not entirely sure.
210
Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
They are different things but you equate two different things. The policy makes clear it asks for a one state solution. If the belief is peace can be achieved just by handing all the land to a Palestinian state, I think that’s ideologically naive. If it’s too rehome Israelis that’s illegal & racist.

It’s true, some use it & think of it as a word that support’s Netanyahu and/or everything Israel does. But many others see it as the right of Jews to have somewhere to call home & for self determination. And that is valid as much as any other group have a right to words of expression as valid.
110
Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
I’ve seen people make really detailed historical explanations as to why Zionism is racist, & you know what maybe it is. But this isn’t about some intellectual study. This is the new policy of one of the big 5 political parties, so how people actually view the meaning of the word matters more.

Personally if I were the Green Party I’d make sure more democratic and much cheaper for all (membership fee and then free) ways to vote were in place before their spring conference. #Greens #GreenParty

Taking a step back from this, and thinking about the process and how this mess happened. It might be wrong but AI told me, concessions aside, it’s £110 p/y to vote for Green Party policies, of which around 1.5% voted yesterday of its 220k members. It did say the party is considering changes here..

Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
If you’re trying to play this out on the technical history of how Zionism played out decades ago you are missing the point.
000
Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
No state has a right to exist, but people have a right to live in peace without fear of not being treated equally because of who they are. The best solution to resolving this has always been to give people’s their own state, a place to call their own. How does a one state solution to more pain?
000
Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
It doesn’t help Palestinians whatsoever. It doesn’t seek peace. It doesn’t calm down tensions. It’s laying politics for the sake of grandstanding. But how know do they expect the media to treat them? It’s such an easy position they’ve put Labour in to attack them.

Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
This decade has seen an appalling rise in anti Muslim hate. For many reasons, particularly with establishment positions it has been worse than antisemitism. But you cannot tell me there aren’t people who hate Jews in the Green Party now who can hide in the shadows of this policy.
110
Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
The fact that Zack’s amendment to protect Jews who go to synagogue’s that support Zionism lost its vote is a disgrace. It’s ever bit as disgraceful as Suella Braverman making herself look whiter on her book cover. No it’s worse.

Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
The irony is that a few like Dan Hodges said he needed to win Holborn, or his leadership was as good as over. I thought that ridiculous. This vote & his handling of it though now do entertain that idea. This isn’t a sustainable position for the Green Party. They must know this!

Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
I can’t understand why the Green Party have dropped the ball in the week of Zack’s by election. It’s garbage that he needed to leave conference for his campaign before the vote, An hour or two wouldn’t have made any difference, or less difference than this vote result has done. It’s cowardly.

Of course I know the answer. They hate Sadiq Khan. They hate having a person of colour as London mayor, particularly one who is progressive (their language is woke). They hate elected Muslims.
000
Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Things like, do I think Sadiq Khan is getting paid too much money and then wouldn’t that money be better spent on X, Y, Z. I ask, just his wage or all politicians? How much should he be paid then? Would it fix this problem with XYZ if the money went there Instead? They go defensive & won’t answer

I had another nice dinner gathering over the weekend but was getting irritated by the Reform UK supporter in the group. What’s pathetic about these people though often is you just have to ask them to clarify what it is they’re actually saying and they can’t do it & eventually give up!

The non celebrity version is better in my opinion. The celebs can be funny but they’re performative to the camera. My fav angle with the public one is psycho analysing the way people think as groups & react to things. It is also beautifully filmed & other bits & pieces that make it a good watch imo

Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The two state solution is dead because Netanyahu has made it impossible. The Green Party have basically voted in a policy that is the opposite of those that call for Israel to run the entirety of the land. But in doing so it likewise solves none of the tensions & divides people.

Olivey @onc147.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
This is a big mistake from the Green Party. This makes coalition in a future Government, as good as impossible. This is why, despite some very good work by the Greens, I continue to vote Lib Dem, as the more sensible, grown up and today arguably, more inclusive party.

I get why @nojusticemtg.bsky.social is going after Kemi Baddenoch over the proposal to ban young people from Universal Credit, but saying she might be worse than Nigel is a misjudged conclusion. Let’s try and stop Burnham from doing stupid things like interfere with PL investigations & he wins…

One of which didn’t even know his name before yesterday. That’s how non political they were. They k ow his name now and not in the way Burnham would want.

Andy Burnham promised to fix the mistrust between the people and the state and establishment. How does he square that circle now if he allows this to play out the way he signalled yesterday. I’ve seen very non political people who like football today decide they don’t like Andy Burnham.
