My first @fullindie.bsky.social summit and it was awesome, Vancouver has a real special indie game dev scene. Started off the day with a banger talk from @writnelson.bsky.social

Xalavier Nelson Jr on stage at FullIndie in front of a large screen which says:
"What systems do you engage with?
Will you use LinkedIn, and forever be banished from the light of god?"

if you see this, we implore you to post a picture from whatever device you're using without explanation.

Took a photo of my copy of Star Wars Archives, the footnote: "Joe Johnston's first designs for the 46-centimeter (18-inch) high Minch Yoda stuck close to Lucas's description of him as a somewhat mischievous, gnomelike figure."

Be blessed with the knowing of the early blue yoda concept art from Empire

Early concept art for Yoda in Empire Strikes Back. Yoda is blue, with long legs and arms, no robe, cone hat and long staff.

@morecivilized.bsky.social Rob jokingly referring to Lando as a libertarian in the latest Empire episode SENT me. You've mentioned them before, but I'd love to hear your guys analysis of the 1983 Lando Calrissian trilogy by noted American libertarian science fiction author L Neil Smith.

Excerpt from L Neil's Smith's wikipedia page:
Lester Neil Smith III (May 12, 1946 – August 27, 2021[1]), better known as L. Neil Smith, was an American libertarian science fiction author and political activist. His works include the trilogy of Lando Calrissian novels, all published in 1983: Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu, Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon, and Lando Calrissian and the Starcave of ThonBoka. He also wrote the novels Pallas, The Forge of the Elders, and The Probability Broach, each of which won the Libertarian Futurist Society's annual Prometheus Award (which Smith personally created) for best libertarian science fiction novel. In 2016, Smith received a Special Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Libertarian Futurist Society.

I like the way Terry Pratchett used elves. He always loved twisting traditional fantasy conventions, so when he added elves to Discworld he made them into capricious fae creatures. From "Lords and Ladies":

Elves are wonderful. They provoke wonder.
Elves are marvelous. They cause marvels.
Elves are fantastic. They create fantasies.
Elves are glamorous. They project glamour.
Elves are enchanting. They weave enchantment.
Elves are terrific. They beget terror.
The thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake, and if you want to find snakes look for them behind words that have changed their meaning.
No one ever said elves are nice.
Elves are bad.

@remapradio.bsky.social Minor Baby Steps spoilers for an item. Now that Patrick has conquered Box Hell, I can share this with context.

Nate, the player character of Baby Steps, dejectedly looking at a Box Hat wedged between two boxes. The game gives you the A prompt, but the hat is still out of reach.

Banger juxtaposition, I cackled

Also this is wild, but sick. Go listen to Sunflower Bean.

Everyone should read Discworld. Terry Pratchett was a master of packing wit and meaning and culture into every page, all while subtly teaching you about compassion.
