#EnemiesToLovers #JDR

Just finished a one-session playtest of The Lands Remaining, a dark fantasy game in development from the author of Brindlewood Bay. It's clear that it's meant for long-term play seeing the depth of the playbooks, but the mere atmosphere of the first mystery on Elegy really sells it! #TTRPG #CFB

Discourse time. IMO, the "only" things a TTRPG system "needs" is to meet the expectations of the people who play it (not an absolute or taste of someone not around). To do so it must: - Be CLEAR about what it aims to deliver. - Be PICKED by ppl with matching wants. - Be EFFICIENT at delivering it.

A thing that happens a lot in TTRPG realm: White designer does something kinda shitty culturally TTRPG discourse spends all energy trying to redeem/explain/reform/understand said designer No energy left for POC designers already doing better stuff.

The problem is that we see discussion of game design as a medium shut down by this trivial observation. When people want to discuss game-structures and are shut down by somebody pointing out that play-events can be anything, the result is that we ignore game-structures as a topic.

Yep! Most awards require you to submit yourself for consideration. This also includes sending free physical copies of books etc to the judges. It’s one of the reasons I have complex feelings about awards. It costs money and stock to put your hat in the ring. two things indy devs cant easily spare.🧵
