Does the DPRK still teach pre-communist history in a way that flatters the past Korean states? I always assumed that they’d label them monarchic imperialists, evidenced by policies like discrimination against ethnic minorities. But I assume that’s wrong, if echoes of those old prejudices live on?

Ultimately I also mentioned Bosnia because I think there would have to be some sort of external constitutional peacekeeper, like the High Representative.

I sadly do think it’d be more Bosnian though :( While the Flemish and Walloons aren’t the best of friends, inter-ethnic Belgian conflict and Palestinian-Israeli conflict aren’t exactly comparable. Belgium has a unifying religion + monarch. A Palestinian/Israeli state would not…

While I’m still de-facto in support of the two state solution as the only real practical option, I do sometimes wonder if just recreating Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Levant is the only way to definitively prevent a future Israeli-Palestinian war long term (and to also deal with Gaza being an exclave).

How in the hell do they expect opinions in the Jewish community to shift if one side of the issue never speaks to the other? It’s like these people don’t understand how political change works conceptually.

I could be wrong, but I don't think there is a single show on here which isn't American or British? I like a lot of this list, but it is the most Anglosphere-centric thing I think I've ever seen.

Honestly as a Gen Z reader of Adams, his writing does show its age a bit, but almost all of the humour translates pretty well to modern day audiences - it’s absurdist, so it’s pretty timeless. Plus I know a few ‘Booktok’ type readers who like the Guide, so I think the original post is a bit rubbish.

Ironically the literally generic ‘Centre Party’ has become the liberal party, and the ‘Liberals’ the generic “centrist” party. It’s a bizarre switch around.

Oliver Poyser 🔸 @olspoyser.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
Tbf they’re increasingly being shunned by other liberals - I don’t know anyone in any ALDE party that’s cheering them on. Everyone is backing the Centre Party instead. Even Liberalerna’s youth wing is actively refusing to campaign for them - they barely avoided voting to disaffiliate entirely…

I expect it’s pretty representative - the school I went to which had private buses went bankrupt recently due to poor financial management, so I assume most schools figured out that the use they get isn’t worth the cost, unless they’re constantly sending pupils off to fixtures throughout the day.

Oliver Poyser 🔸 @olspoyser.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
Tbf private schools (at least ones with large catchment areas) will often have a few school buses that take students to and from the school and major towns surrounding it, either hired from private companies or owned themselves. But they’re likely not used by more than 2-4% of students.

Industry, surprisingly. Admittedly the ratio of funny to depressing is about 30/70, but those occasional comedic moments are very enjoyable.

As someone who loves using an em-dash, its seizure by AI frustrates me to no end. Practicing good grammar just now makes you look like a robot - which is frankly quite damaging to writing as a craft generally.

That’s you directly contributing to misinformation online! Which as you say is a huge problem, but it’s not helped by baselessly assuming why a quote was misattributed without evidence. Especially when the attribution of the quote is itself debated. Maybe correct people politely next time.

Oliver Poyser 🔸 @olspoyser.bsky.social · 20/07/2026
The person who posted the quote read it in a book, that attributed it to Mahler. You then claimed that 1. They found it online and 2. They hadn’t read a book. And you published this online without checking with the author - or just looking at their profile and seeing that they read lots.

In fairness trying to drive around there with a 20mph speed limit would legitimately be painful - and god forbid how Reform would act once they have an actual physical border that immigrants could come through. They’d be trying to get Plaid to blow the whole budget on a border wall in 20 minutes.

I mean honestly anything would be an improvement on right now... The corpus separatum was a good idea when it was proposed unironically though, but I think both Israel and Palestine will never be happy unless they can have at least part of the city as their capitals.

The only possible sane answer to this is to suggest the return of the Free Territory of Trieste. Everyone knows the UNSC is the kind of functional organisation that could run a multiethnic city state well 😅

It is a bit weird honestly, but it follows a pattern - Alliance’s MP(s) are often sat within the Lib Dem benches. I suspect it’s because the SDLP loosely takes the Labour whip (and I think Alliance do for the Lib Dems), but more in terms of using the whip’s resources than being at their mercy.

Oliver Poyser 🔸 @olspoyser.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
They’ll never win in NI, so they might as well have an ally. The SDLP votes with them quite a bit because of shared ideology - requiring confidence and supply would just come across as unnecessarily formal and would bind both parties more closely than either of them need.

Honestly, this is why we need commune-style bottom levels of local government for individual towns/villages. Using those as building blocks in LGR would let them be more precise.

In fairness, it is pretty Lib Dem to use the state to produce better/more equal outcomes - that was most of the manifesto last election. Obviously there's nuances and there's some people within the party that are a lot more neoliberal, but that's also true for Labour.

I read the Lord of The Rings when I was about ten. Did I fully understand it? No, not really. But I did enjoy reading it, and it did challenge my reading capabilities - which is one of the best things for a child’s educational development. I’m glad I had parents who encouraged that.

Oh 100% but that fact does spoil the fun a bit. Although obviously in reality their autonomy (and the referendum where they affair their current status almost unanimously) does lend quite a bit of strength to any argument based on self determination and popular sovereignty.
