@priceoffootball.bsky.social 3Up from National League to EFL would have happened years ago except, as an ex-EFL boss told me, the NL board had no credibility and were not taken seriously. The ‘GateMoney’ scandal of 2021/22 showed the NL board still lack integrity and, as a result, any credibilty…

27 January, the first anniversary of the greatest football match I have ever watched, Ipswich v Maidstone, FA Cup 4th Rd. Privileged to watch it with family, friends and 5000 fellow supporters at Portman Rd. A day of pure joy. Simply unforgettable. @maidstoneunited.bsky.social 💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤

A tiny 2% wealth tax, on 20k people would raise £24 billion per year to spend on the things that urgently need fixing in our country. We need some tax justice - the more money you have the less tax you pay and vice versa - that’s absurd.

Well that was a cold miserable night in Oyonnax, tough watching Brive lose again after an injury to a key player after 10 seconds and a very harsh early sending-off…. Hope my trip to @maidstoneunited.bsky.social v Worthing on Saturday is more fruitful…

Great to see George Elokobi developing into a top manager for @maidstoneunited.bsky.social . What a run we are now on following on from last season’s FA Cup heroics! So much hard work needed to get us to this position, as we also look to strengthen the squad to up our challenge for the title 💛🖤

Desperate times for the UK economy. Will it take bankruptcy before we admit that leaving our closest trading partners was a colossal mistake costing us 4% of annual GDP and needs to be reversed sooner rather than later? After 8 years all Brexit has given us is a huge headache…

Shame no video highlights of Tonbridge v @maidstoneunited.bsky.social Boxing Day match, especially given a spectacular Aaron Blair goal…would not be the case if, as with most clubs, we could have been given space to film too…

A few years ago I was proud of our South Stand development at Brive but the new North Stand and its facilities is way above, genuinely international class, brilliant design and decoration, great for the fans 👏👏👏@CABCLRUGBY .

So disappointing. Every chance Starmer gets to make a real difference he flunks. Arms to Israel, closer ties to Europe, breaking the grip of media oligarchs, etc….if Labour carries on like this it will be smashed by Reform/Tories next election

A thread on why people often misuse the word ‘ambition’ in the context of running a football club…. It’s not ‘ambition’ to spend unearned or borrowed money on players just to get a promotion which cannot be sustained 1/7

In addition to this Starmer has to change course and steer back towards the single market, it makes obvious economic sense and otherwise Labour will be obliterated next time round by Tory/Reform, just like Biden/Harris were crushed by the new Trumpolitics

Oliver Ash @oliverash1.bsky.social · 18/11/2024

No, it began years ago. The ‘mainstream’ is now X and Instagram and Facebook and so on…this is what got Trump elected

Oliver Ash @oliverash1.bsky.social · 18/11/2024

In fact I don’t know why I keep referring to football as a business, it’s not, it’s a madhouse.

Oliver Ash @oliverash1.bsky.social · 18/11/2024

@maidstoneunited would like to have kept talented Jon Benton but that would have meant throwing a grenade at our wage structure and putting the club at risk which we won’t do. Grenades are not good for business….

Excellent and chilling analysis of the Trump win. The ‘mainstream media’ is no (longer) such thing…
