White House FY 2027 Budget Request, planning deep cuts to most agencies (top). This won't help reverse the trend shown at the bottom. Chinas share of global publications has gone from ~0% to ~35% since 1990. With the planned cuts it is hard to see how this trend can be reversed.

Norway postpones deep sea exploration permits for a while. Sequoia Scientific, Inc.’s LISST-RTSSV (real time size and settling velocity) could help establish environmental baselines AND monitor the environmental impacts of mining operations in near real-time.
