Hi friends, can anyone recommend an astrologer they respect who works with Chiron? Or self-nominate if you are that respectable Chiron-inclusive astrologer yourself? Want to refer a client. Cheers!

'Immature minds delight in argumentation and fault-finding, because it is easy enough to find fault, though hard to see the good and its inner necessity. The learner always begins by finding fault, but the scholar sees the positive merit in everything' (G.W F. Hegel, "The Philosophy of Right").

I am so tired of common fantasy tropes like "schools of magic" and the standard D&D version of magic where it's this mundane commonplace thing and everyone knows a few spells, etc. For me, magic should feel arcane, shocking and inexplicable - not something you just go to school to learn.

The true reason I've read almost every Plato dialogue but couldn't even get through the first few pages of Aristotle's De Anima is because Plato is fun to read and Aristotle is not. Style is so important. Like I know I "need" to read Aristole to grok medieval science but it's such a slog man.

"Suppose...a superior being, who may perhaps have as much power over you as you have over this insect, should say to his companion, 'Kill that lawyer! ...' how would you like that, Jones? And I am sure that to most people a lawyer is a more noxious animal than a spider."

SPIDERS AND LAWYERS.
ONE day, upon removing some books at Sir William Jones's chambers, a large spider dropped upon the floor, upon which Sir William, with some warmth, called out to his friend Day, that spider spider, said Day, coolly, "I will not kill that spider, Jones. I do not know that I have a right to kill that spider, Jones. Suppose, when you are going in your coach to Westminster Hall, a superior being, who may perhaps have as much power over you as you have over this insect, should say to his companion, 'Kill that lawyer! kill that lawyer!' how would you like that, Jones? And 1 am sure that to most people a lawyer is a more noxious animal than a spider."

Reading so many astrological texts you get a sense of the diversity of interpretive frameworks and loose threads of traditions. But sitting down with this fantastic book and seeing it all laid out so neatly is truly thrilling!

Book cover. Orange band at top with the words “Graves’s Studies in the History of Astrology I”. Main title appears in the foreground of an image of a person pouring water from a large urn: Technical & Planetary Development in Astrology Philip Graves foreword by Nicholas Campion. Astrological charts frame the bottom birser with a blockprint image of the face of the Sun holding a sword.

Sometimes we’re unsatisfied with a thing we made because when it only existed in our head, we saw all the things it could have been and when it’s done we know all the things that it isn’t, but we can’t see the way it expands into a million new things when someone else unpacks it in their head. 🖊️🦑

Frustrated little dude gripping a pencil saying “how do I pack this down into something I can actually share?” While swirling rainbows labeled “INFINITE POTENTIAL” float around them.

Little dude frowns at a tiny grey box, exclaiming “all that work for THIS?!”

Little dude shoves the grey box into another little guy’s hands; Frowning, stomping off, and saying “Here you go, I made this, it sucks.”

Second little dude cracks open the box, swirling rainbows project out onto their face.

Second little dude stares in awe at all the swirling rainbows now floating around them.

One time in primary school (grade 5?) our class held an election to see which of us kids would be on the student representative counsel, and someone nominated the class clown/bully as a joke. We all thought it was SO funny, then he got a majority of the vote, teacher was stunned. It went so badly.
