Hitting animals that dart in front of/at your car is always disheartening. I've dealt with pigeons and deer and I thought we had a deal.
Don't we have a deal with the pigeons? In the season 9 episode "The Merv Griffin Show", George complains that the pigeons are "breakin' the deal" because they refuse to move out of the way of his car.
