146. Black Marble - "A Different Arrangement" Cool color #vinyl on this one. I have this because I bought their new record Life In Small Spaces during their/his release listening party. But this is what actually arrived. 😂 Which I'm not mad about, I love this synth record. Dance!

145. Smashing Pumpkins - Gish I recall listening to this just after it dropped. The drummer of the band I was in would play it all the time. In the months before Nevermind, this was the new sound of rock. Just remembering that we went to see them at the Casbah & I asked if we could open for them. 😂
Photo of a black vinyl record with a deep purple label on an Audio-Technica turntable. The cover for Gish by Smashing Pumpkins sits alongside, featuring a round, portrait-style photo of the four band members framed by a ring of red beads against a dark maroon background. "SMASHING PUMPKINS" appears in white handwritten-style type across the top, and "gish" appears in white lowercase handwritten-style type with a small star over the i in the lower right. A back cover or insert with liner notes and a black and white photo of a dog is partially visible behind the front cover.

143 & 144. Angine de Poitrine - Vol. 1 & Vol. II The KEXP performance is still my favorite because it's how I discovered them. ☺️ These #vinyl records are birthday gifts from my youngest. I love that they knew I'd like these. ❤️

142. Broken Record - Routine Picked up @brokenrecord.bsky.social's new #vinyl from last year on the most recent Bandcamp Friday and listened to it before I went on vacation so when I got back it was already on the turntable so I hit the start button. DAMN this is a good album. Check it out.

In the late 80s I used to say that the only R.E.M. albums I'd own were Murmur (because it's perfect), Dead Letter Office (because it's so much fun 😄), and Eponymous, because it contained all the other hits that I liked. I've softened that stance because I really like those other I.R.S. records. 😁

I feel like I know a lot of people who hold @remhq.bsky.social 90's albums in higher esteem, but I personally don't see how any of those makes it above this one. (I'm also a staunch I.R.S. era fan, so that's not a surprising opinion from me. 😄)

141. Book Of Love - Book Of Love Saw them open for Depeche Mode on the Black Celebration tour in 1986 & fell in love with the music. I'm going to see them here in Denver in November! This is the 40th anniversary clear #vinyl edition of their debut & aside from skips on the title track, I love it.
Photo of a clear vinyl record on an Audio-Technica turntable. The self-titled debut album cover for Book of Love sits alongside, featuring four black and white portrait photos of the band members arranged in a grid, set against a cream background patterned with small decorative illustrations. The band name "BOOK OF LOVE" appears in black serif type at the top, doubled with a trey offset effect. A sticker on the cover notes it celebrates 40 years of the debut album, newly remastered, featuring the tracks "Boy" and "I Touch Roses," and pressed on crystal clear vinyl.

140. Uncle Tupelo - Anodyne Part of the Rhino High Fidelity series, absolutely fantastic #vinyl pressing of a gorgeous album. Took me by surprise when they broke up after this (I'd interviewed Jeff recently, too!), but what a way to go. "Anodyne" is my standout in a crowded field. Number 3979/5000
Photo of a black vinyl record with a red label on an Audio-Technica turntable. The cover for Anodyne by Uncle Tupelo sits alongside, featuring a sepia-toned photo of a room filled with numerous acoustic and electric guitars propped up against a wall. A message from me for new & existing bands - if your album/single/EP cover looks like AI, I'm gonna assume your band is AI, and I'm not going to listen. Maybe most people aren't like me? But I'm guessing there are a lot who are. You're alienating listeners. Just FYI.

139. Loverboy - Keep It Up Didn't buy the butt cover album (I thought it was a guy until the other day) but for some reason bought this one. Maybe for "Queen of the Broken Hearts," clearly the best song on the album. 😂 But I have it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

138. Loverboy Debut album by the Canadian band. The lead single was "Turn Me Loose" but my favorite song off this is the kickin' album opener "The Kid Is Hot Tonite." For some reason I have a memory of listening to it in someone's living room in Memphis, I think. I must've bought it there.

137. Love and Rockets - Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven The boys in Love and Rockets (and Tones on Tail, of course) made some of the best psychedelic music of the 80s. "Kundalini Express" on acid is (…I'm told…) quite epic, and many of the songs on this debut would also fit that bill. #vinyl

135 & 136. Jets To Brazil - Perfecting Loneliness Oddly, while I felt that the ORD reissue (the album, not the airport) sounded excellent, I wasn't so fond of the audio here. Didn't sound nearly as dynamic, and I'm not quite sure why. I'll need to listen to this double #vinyl again to be sure. 😄
