Finally back in Newcastle and what an amazing weekend! #Rustival was amazing, great to drive down, convoy over and spend time with such lovely people. Quick check on Frank then to Whitby. This morning back up to Newcastle. 600 miles and he STILL has fuel left. Impressive Frank!

I think I agree to to a point similar to the Focus ST170 going under the radar when the MK2 ST arrived. Same with other forgotten fast fords. Probes, Cougars..all decent, just failing for one reason or another. I miss Genevieve...

My mate had one new, back in 96. Went like a train. It was a weird dark metallic aubergine colour but it looked the tits! Similar to the one below.

Last of the great Fords in my opinion. Had 2 of these and they were bulletproof. Also had a later one like the picture and not so good. But those earlier ones were brilliant to drive, great on fuel and had all the toys. Better built than a similar era Merc too.

That Focus became....(Any excuse to shoehorn Frank in 🤣🤣) Exceptional car even now and the chassis is cracking. Drives better than a lot of modern cars. Testament to it's forward thinking engineers. When Ford were good!

I disagree Paul. I think the Probe has improved over time. I think it looks better than the Cougar (I've had both) and I agrees with the other comment that the MX-6 doesn't look as good. Horses for courses though. He's mine for comparison.

2/2 I have ended up with mild sunstroke but a great day was had by all. Smith and Sniff, Spilt Milk, but gutted Genevieve didn't get there. Would have been the only Ford Cougar as well (I deliberately checked). Finally pics...enjoy !!

Had a couple of xr's. A silver XR3 and a red XR3i. Had 2 golf gits, MK1 and 2. Never has a Talbot or 205gti but have owned a Renault 11 turbo. That was batshit mad. Did love the MK2 Golf but the electrics were shockingly poor and brittle.

Replaced wipers with all new Bosch. Replaced expansion tank cap. Snipped and re-jubilee clipped expansion hoses. Fixed rear wash wipe water pipe. DAB Bluetooth head unit fitted. New car mats fitted. Interior cleaned. Just need to sort a bit of cosmetics now. Labour of love is Frank. Love him!

The more I drive Frank, the better he gets. Just had breakfast with my old mate and he was quite taken with Frank. Sure he's not perfect, bit of lacquer peel here and there..but a solid honest car which has very little to go wrong but all the stuff you need. Aircon, elec windows, twin airbags.👍

Well....I've been looking for a replacement for Genevieve. After spending alot of time carefully choosing a new steed, I've bought this today. Step forward a very clean, solid MK1 Ford Focus 1.6 LX. Absolutely love it. Forgot how well they drive. And you'll meet Frank at FOTU.
