And we really shouldn’t leave police out of the conversation. Cops kill every day, for years now those murders have been recorded by the public and the state. The videos are released on the internet and covered by news media. The red flags were everywhere, we could have drawn the line at any point

Plenty of lynchings were planned in advance. In some cases whole towns were slaughtered, that was organized. And it’s not just lynching. Public executions occurred in the US by state governments, many against native captives. We didn’t kill the root, the bush grew back.

that mindset, we won’t be able to permanently fix these problems.

Identifying and acknowledging something as a problem is a vital step in change. Believing that this isn’t who we really are, deflects it to someone else’s problem rather than something we need to confront. The default argument against reparations is I wasn’t there or responsible. Until we break

I do agree with you in part. I don’t think the majority are making comparisons to US history as a way to dismiss the severity, it’s the opposite. We need to acknowledge this as an escalation of what is already in place. We need to connect the lines and accept that this IS us, this is OUR problem.

It’s white washing US history. The noxious parts went quiet for awhile but they never left. We have always had this problem here. Acceptance and acknowledgment is the first step to change. Unless we fully accept that this IS who we are, we will not see need to correct.

I am able to recognize that I’m part of we and despite not directly causing harm, I am complicit in it. My tax dollars fund harm every day. I inherited benefits that resulted from the harms done by past generations.

What you see as salient differences are from a different perspective distractions from a systemic problem with multiple facets. The differences are irrelevant when arising from the same source.

I can’t remember enough to respond to your question directly but either way there’s more than one judge at the court so there’s still a bit of chance involved. And we have seen that not all of Trump’s appointees are as reliable as he’d like

That seems like an extremely arbitrary distinction to make. Sure, they weren’t scheduled months in advance but they were scheduled and planned. People knew where to be and when. If they would have had phones and Facebook, there would have been a livestream. It’s not likely that legacy press will

It’s not really a phenomenon though, is it? People asked for more moderation, they got more moderation but the side effect was more demonetization. The soft language isn’t a sign of a soft generation, it’s a loophole so people could keep getting their paychecks.

Your plan, a month before the election, is to announce that under your leadership, MD will support the Trump’s immigration policies and the war in Iran by producing the tools they will use to violate human rights? The best time to resign was after the sphere, second best is now

Those aren’t mutually exclusive though. It’s difficult to prosecute rapists if cops don’t believe victims, don’t investigate, arrest the victims instead, and do the raping themselves. They’re part of the patriarchal system, they are paid to maintain our misogynistic society.

Ok. But. Taking away trans rights also takes away women’s rights. We were living in a reality where trans people had the ability to play sports, vote, change their names, receive med care, etc. It existed, they were protected. The rights are being taken away. You’re advocating for starting slavery

Because it’s not a competition. Suffering is suffering, it’s never ok as a tax funded policy. The suffering now is only possible as a result of Dems who supported it. The GOP isn’t going away, they will continue to do what they do. We need politicians who are not afraid to stand up. Talarico is

Yes but data and studies show that this is ineffective. The potential gains from attracting non voters are higher than the potential switch voters, for left leaning parties.
010
HorribleRobot @okayrobot.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Sure and this was a very competitive primary. Talarico won the nom and is now changing his position on trans rights. Black voters were told they had to accept talarico because a black woman couldn’t win TX, now trans voters are being told they have to accept him because trans rights can’t win TX.

HorribleRobot @okayrobot.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
You’ve raised two problems here. It was hashed out in the primary but Talarico lied then or lied now, what else is he lying about? Rape and transphobia are born from the same ills, they’re the same problem. You cannot convince me that you care about victims of rape while harming trans people.

There are correct answers. There are politicians giving the correct answers. Those politicians are not getting criticized for those answers. There’s an easy test for this, substitute trans for any other identifier and see if you still think it’s reasonable

exclusionary, bigoted, and reactionary. It is not in the best interest of liberal society to treat reactionary views as reasonable views worthy of consideration.

HorribleRobot @okayrobot.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Because what they’re describing isn’t injustice! Words have meanings. They are ignoring what they’re feeling and blaming it on others. That’s not an injustice. They are behaving no differently than the racists blaming DEI for their problems. One side is being reasonable the other is being

So what’s the difference? What makes trans women different? Why shouldn’t they be on women’s teams? If trans women and cis women are both fully capable of meeting the same physical criteria as cis men in other activities, what makes sports different?
140
HorribleRobot @okayrobot.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
I absolutely do not. The women athletes who hold bigoted beliefs are bigots. The others are not bigots. There’s a crap ton of cis women athletes who support trans women, and welcome them in their spaces. Why are you valuing the opinions of people who want to treat some humans differently from others
100
HorribleRobot @okayrobot.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Well it’s blocked so I can’t see the exact statement but it’s bigoted (and possibly a violation of the 1964 civil rights act) to deny someone the same rights based on their gender, race, ethnicity, religion, etc
100
HorribleRobot @okayrobot.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
acceptable to correctly describe misogyny, sexism, and racism as bigotry.
250
HorribleRobot @okayrobot.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Women athletes and bigots are not mutually exclusive categories. It is bigoted to complain about sharing space with trans women. They aren’t stating facts, they’re stating debunked, cherry picked nonsense that confirms their biases. They’re repeating arguments made by eugenecists. It is perfectly
270
HorribleRobot @okayrobot.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
A rational person would recognize when they’ve been had. Women can serve in the armed services, police, fire departments, alongside men at the same capacity but are unable to match them in athletics? Is that the argument you’re making? Basketball is somehow more dangerous for women than combat?
170
HorribleRobot @okayrobot.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Yes it is. Women athletes are not complaining about competing with and/or against trans athletes, bigots are. Cis women are able to beat men and trans women in athletics all the time. Plenty of sports are co-ed. And no one is complaining about trans men in men’s sports. This is plain misogyny.

The ballots being sent, received, and counted is State run. USPS is a federal agency, what they do with the ballots after the State (or voter) puts them in a post box is where Trump is trying to meddle. Your ballot will likely be mailed as usual but delivery to you is questionable now.
