10 - A Chinese Ghost Story (1987) - Directed by Tony Ching Siu-Tung. This #movie has a little bit of everything. It's #horror, romance, comedy, and action. 04 - #HouseOnHauntedHill is a fantastic #horror classic and a great way to set the stage for #Halloween. Great cast, excellent sets, good music all come together for a spooky watch! This year, I watched the #Elvira 40th Anniversary version of the movie. Same great movie, bonus Elvira! #filmsky

Poster for House on Haunted Hill (1959). Painted cover by Reynold Brown. The poster features a house (though not the house featured in the movie). It looks rundown and spooky as it stands against a stormy, cloudy sky. Looming over the house is a skeleton. In one hand, it holds the end of a noose, from which swings a woman in a gold gown. Closer, Vincent Price holds a woman's severed head by the blonde hair in one hand, a candle in the other. Across from Price, a man is drowning in a pool of acid as another man looks on, having opened the trap door to the acid. In the center, the title: House on Haunted Hill.

Important words of wisdom from Octavia E. Butler's Parable of the Talents, Chapter 11 (1998). Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought.

Text from Octavia E. Butler's 1998 novel Parable of the Talents (chapter 11). It reads:
"Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought.
To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears.
To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool.
To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen.
To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies.
To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery."
