Arcade FACT In America the game was called Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf as Lee was best friends with John SNK, owner of SNK Corp. Unfortunately they fell out after Lee's insistence that he should be the lead character in Fatal Fury was rejected, hence why he's not in the Arcade Archives release🤔

This week's Arcade Archives release is SNK's 1988 golf game 'Fighting Golf' afaik there is only golf & the fighting is relegated to you fighting for the best score, rather than killing your rivals with a golf club, which would have done a lot to increase my interest levels⛳ tldr, Neo Turf Masters

Rare 'legit gave it my all but still got humped' this week How hard can clearing 2 stages be? Well, not too hard tbh but if you're scoring, rank's off the scale & you need to be getting every secret to earn. This score's still 2x what a normal score to where I died would be but not getting the....

me in 13th out of 100. Hardly a disaster & it's happened before (hello Bosconian) but it smarts a bit as I know that top 10 was achievable. Oh well, such is life & a good time was still had & lots was learned

The Mister seems to be OK. Left is mame's defaults, which are fucked. Right is the correct defaults for the Jp game from it's manual idk about the US game being on 2 difficulty but that's not unheard of for some Capcom games, so is probably OK (I don't play US vers of Jp games, so less knowledge)

Mame, Jpn ver - defaults are, to be polite, fucked

Your occasional reminder: Never forget, just because a game is running in an emulator doesn't mean it's running correctly & even if it is running as intended, the default settings can still be completely wrong

I'm still annoyed we never got the PC Engine Batman game we were originally promised, instead of the top down one which looks a bit shit & I've never played The unreleased one seems to have a Batman sprite that looks a bit like 1960s Batman, so it could have been camp & hilarious, instead of dull😢🦇

Those 2 credits 40yrs ago paid off as I shambled my way into 4th place this week💪 Good game that starts off fun, then gets frustrating, then gets fun again as your brain slowly works out things you can do to progress The Overseas ver. I didn't play should be a bit easier to get into too

4th place in the Mr Do VS Unicorns day 1 caravan. Obviously much better scores can be achieved but my brain can only go so far, & even getting to 20K was real tough to begin with
