Flock “is building a product that will use people lookup tools, data brokers, and data breaches to ‘jump from LPR [license plate reader] to person,’ allowing police to much more easily identify and track the movements of specific people around the country without a warrant or court order…”

License Plate Reader Company Flock Is Building a Massive People Lookup Tool, Leak Shows
Flock, which has license plate readers (LPRs) all around the country, wants police to be able to “jump from LPR to person,” according to leaked audio obtained by 404 Media.

What the actual…
In the meeting audio obtained by 404 Media, the Flock employee described the sorts of information the company will supplement ALPR data with. The first is data breaches. One example the employee pointed to was a 2021 data breach impacting users of Park Mobile, an app that allows users to pay for parking without physically going to the parking meter or in some lots where meters no longer exist. That data included license plate numbers with their owners’ associated email addresses, phone numbers, and in some cases mailing addresses. With regards to Flock, “Nova ingests that and is able to use that to contextualize the data. So we're now able to make that cognitive leap from LPR to person,” the employee said.

Help, I keep buying more books before I finish reading the books I already have! Also, I tend to read multiple books at a time because I need “brain candy” too while I read heavy nonfiction. This is out of control. #booksky

I noticed mine said it was currently raining when it wasn’t yesterday. And it seems the forecast tends to be super inaccurate any longer than 2 days out.

Screenshot of the text:

AI is out to destroy emotion. It devours curiosity but its primary target is grief. You cannot grieve people and places that never existed, though you can grieve creations of the human mind: fiction and folklore. But AI replaces imagination with mechanical pseudo-innuendo, coughing up dreamworlds destined to be debunked. AI is designed to make you question the veracity of true tragedies, to view every tear as a ruse.

AI uses you and it uses strangers, scraping pieces of your skin and stitching them into an inhuman patchwork they use to smother your soul.

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind. An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one." The other said, "Take him anyway." So they did.
Wilmer only found out his son had been detained after receiving a phone call on March 15 from his nephew, Luis, who lives with them. That morning was their last time together; they had gone around the corner to do their laundry. Later that day, Wilmer said that his son met with a friend to get help with some errands at the American Red Cross. He learned this from Luis, who looked at the situation from inside the apartment: when his son was on his way back, just steps from his home when ICE agents stopped him. “The officers grabbed him and two other boys right at the entrance to our building. One said, ‘No, he’s not the one,’ like they were looking for someone else. But the other said, ‘Take him anyway.'”

That moment marked the beginning of Wilmer’s search for answers — answers he’s still waiting for.

i have argued before that MAGA is recapitulating antebellum pro-slavery ideas about citizenship and bodily autonomy. one thing i am also thinking about, when it comes to the rendition of people to a foreign gulag, is the way it is reminiscent of the kidnapping of free blacks for sale into slavery

Most people confuse intimacy with sex, but real intimacy is being fully seen and accepted. It takes honesty, emotional risk, and time. It’s not always easy or constant. Intimacy deepens through vulnerability, not comfort. Many crave it, but fear what it truly demands.

You don’t really have to frame the kidnapping, abuse, and humiliation of people as important and serious because it means the same could potentially be done to citizens. It can just be important and serious that people are being kidnapped, abused, and humiliated.

All resistance counts. Some people take that one day and turn it into two. Some people can be galvanized into further action. Some people learn they CAN go some time without spending if they add planning. Some people learn that some people just like to not shut the fuck up about what others do.
