GB Reali left more exquisite music than a lengthy bio. Starting the day—actually, continuing the night— with his energetic Folia. “The Poets light but Lamps— Themselves—go out— The Wicks they stimulate— If vital Light Inhere as do the Suns…” ~EMILY DICKINSON #ClassicalMusic #poetry

The #DailyMelody music that I write in a single day seems to reflect the personal events & thoughts of the day. But, since the writing takes up a good chunk of the day, my personal events & thoughts may be a reflection of the music written. rupponline.net/music/202x/2... #OriginalMusic #Orchestra

A short bit of music in A major for cornets, clarinets, strings, and tympani. The melodic material is derived from yesterday's post (23 May 2025). The chord progressions are from the first part of "Folia", specifically i-v-i (minor tonic and dominant chords), and VII-III (major supertonic and mediant chords, which are also the tonic and dominant of the key's relative major, C).

For a few hours during an early spring day, the mind tuned out certain Toxic Official Word Salads so as to hear, instead, a polyphonic unfolding of four harmonious voices. rupponline.net/music/202x/2... #DailyMelody #OriginalMusic #Violin #Clarinet #Cello #Bassoon

The opening dozen bars of a piece of music for violin, E-flat clarinet, cello, and bassoon. The cello and bassoon play alone for the first nine bars, then are joined by the violin and clarinet.

Everything is bad but birds are good so time to reinstitute BIRD PROTOCOL where a bird is deployed to offset endless evil vibes, please enjoy, birds are good, okay bye (photo by me)

Portrait-oriented photo featuring a wooden post with a rusted hanger hook jutting out of it, and standing atop the post, triumphant and at least slightly indignant, is a plump little bluebird. The bluebird is a male, and we see the electric blue of his head, but the predominant part facing us is the coppery-orange and pale white front. He is standing amidst little pink-and-red tree blossoms, but I like to imagine these are instead the extracted organs of his enemies. So let's just pretend this bluebird stands vengefully astride a scattering of viscera -- gobbets of gore taken as a prize from his unnatural and invasive foes. I'm sorry I've really made this a gross photo. It's actually quite nice. Kind of a dreamy vibe to it, what with the wall of yellow forsythia blurring in the background, and here I am adding drippy bits and internal organs. I'm sorry. I'll do better next time. Probably. A century and a quarter ago Ellen Sandels wrote a cavalry march for piano called "Blå Prinsen", which could be translated as "Blue Prince". This march for brass quintet is a (loose) arrangement of Sandels' piano march. rupponline.net/music/202x/2... #OriginalMusic #BrassQuintet

Over a century ago, Boris Sabaneyev wrote a "Canzona Phrygia", a mostly polyphonic bit of music for organ and arranged for piano. The first ten bars of the middle and upper contraputal voices serve as the basis for the music below. rupponline.net/music/202x/2... #DailyMelody #OriginalMusic #Piano

Some would say this is mostly calm music in a polyphonic style, played on a piano.

A Lake of the Isles Luminary, in which the Shadow People follow The Light.

A photo taken at night. People walk on a frozen lake on which luminaries mark a path. On the horizon, in the distance, are the lights of a cluster of tall buildings. Low clouds reflect the lights.

Hail on The Thief "Is weather forecast, with Sharpie, Da?" 20 January 2025: A Felon is The Leader. In part, this is a musical comment on Aardman's "Inauguration Funeral March" bsky.app/profile/aard... Music: rupponline.net/music/202x/2... #OriginalMusic #Strings #Orchestra

A funeral march loosely derived from "Hail to the Chief". The tempo is "Con Mafioso" at the rate of 47 beats per minute. The title is "Hail on The Thief" and the sub-title is "A Felon is The Leader". The music has faint echoes of Shostakovich, Dimitri.
