Maybe I'm just at high alert to disaster at all times, having been through so many (yes, yes it is PTSD) and I also tend to forget that a high percentage of people just... aren't very smart. Hindsight is 20/20, but we're also supposed to learn from those experiences.

I have a theory that this version of reality is a simulation and I think this whole person is AI that was badly trained off of a creature in another dimension. I think we're failing our simulation and it might be getting reset soon.

some common sense and basic understanding of science and terrain would've gone a long way. Those people would most likely be alive right now if they had just gone to higher ground beforehand. It was an avoidable disaster on many levels.
