Billionaire David Ruebens says he quit his London mansion to live in Monaco in response to Labour's punitive tax regime. Only problem with his story, he's been resident in Monaco since 2014. A true patriot, who just happens to have an aversion to paying tax. www.theguardian.com/news/2026/oc...

Did u know? Cattle grids are responsible for imprisoning & killing thousands of small animals every year. The solution is simple - instal escape ramps, to enable tiny lives to liberate themselves. Small acts of kindness can make a huge difference - celebrate the small. 🌱🌿🇬🇧🌱🌍🦔🐸🐀

UK govt plans £1bn energy bills help for poorer households. How about cutting energy profit margins, 100% windfall tax on excess profits before turning to the public purse. UK energy sector is mostly foreign-owned. Dividends paid without any UK tax deduction. End this perk, raise billions.

It’s warm enough here to avoid it for the present. In any case I have independent electric radiators, so it’s not a dramatic decision - can turn one on in the evening if necessary . However, the one in the bathroom has a fan booster which is very handy. My two cats sometimes share their warmth too.

Free meat. And the weight of tradition. Woodpigeons are probably the wild species most frequently shot in France. But cruelty, certainly. One method they used to use was to catch a pigeon and blind it, to attract the migrating birds which would come down to see why there was a pigeon on the ground

Like a humpback bridge - downhill from here. I suppose. Here in Vendée there’s a lot of eleagnus, often as a hedge. It’s resistant to drought and salt air. It too has inconspicuous white flowers that have just finished, and the perfume is gorgeous. It really gives you a lift as you walk past.
