I really wanted to have some kind of mail in campaign for the PC-FX Fan Club but never could quite figure out how to make it work. I might revisit it someday we'll see lol.

I'll be in San Diego the weekend of the 16th if anyone else will happen to be there around that time and want to chill.

Something that's easy to miss in the history of Japanese romance games is that otome games weren't some later development after dating sims proved themselves. Angelique came out four months after the original PCE version of Tokimeki Memorial, making them and their respective scenes contemporaneous.

VRChat baseball is cute, and a great example of what makes social VR neat. Gives you some benefits of teams sports directly in your living room with people all around the world. I'm the low polygon girl with a backpack and ribbon.

Troubleshooting a PC that won't boot properly is much more enjoyable when it's not your main PC Lol I have an old PC build I'm trying to revive, but think i'm slowly narrowing it down to the processor or motherboard dying. That being said, it's just a 2nd PC for my bed room so

Yeah I might go to one of the Kpop ones at some point just to give a looksie at it and see what's up. I heard they're pretty crowded.

Yeah! We have these events called Cupsleeves in town, usually some kind of BTS or ikemen kind of deal. But they had Kirby one and I think a Miffy one next week too. Basically a mini-artist alley with maybe a slightly bigger focus on community building. They're all over instagram here lol.

Went to a Kirby event today. Also a nice Daiso was nearby to. Put my local one to shame lol.

I've never really recorded a CRT before so I'm not really sure I understand how the like refresh rate stuff behaves. Kind of wibble wobbles but I probably was bumping the phone. Not sure if there's an easy way to get around it with a phone, but it'd be nice to record more stuff this way.

Benjamin Yoder @oculin.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Yeah I feel like that would be preferable if you had plans to use this thing for a variety of games. I do have some weird refresh rate issues in FFXI that cause the game to chug randomly when my monitors are set to a flat 60hz. Not sure what that's about, but it adds to it to some extent lol.

020

Benjamin Yoder @oculin.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

There may be better options out there, I didn't do a ton of research. But this one goes down to 640x480 60hz.

Benjamin Yoder @oculin.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Funny to play the game with the UI this crazy cramped, but surprisingly playable. There also some weird refresh issues that cause the game to chug a little, which gives the game a weirdly more PS2 vibe lol.

I'll have to dig out my old save file and take a look. What makes fishing mini-games feel unique to me is often less the action of how they work and more how all the components come together to build like a certain tone. FFXII might be my favorite vibe, despite being boring to play lol.

Benjamin Yoder @oculin.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

I actually just found out about this since I was looking up to see if White Knight Chronicles had one lol. Seemed like people really dug it? But I haven't looked into at all yet.

Benjamin Yoder @oculin.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

I've been poking at fishing mini-games lately. Any that you like? Honestly just a list of ones you know in general would be helpful too so lol.

Ive had this hello kitty coloring book since 2012 and finally finished it. It only came with four crayons colors so I opted to only use those rather than use anything else. Also drew my own Hello Kitty at the end lol.

I messed up my Wii soft mod a few years ago and finally got around to fixing it. DVD drive is still dead but not sure how much I need it now that it runs games off an HDD. Apparently running in off a flash drive is bad lol. Had an issue with conduit 2 that might be related?

5/8 Wii Remotes had an issue where the nun-chuck would constantly disconnect with any movement. Come to find out, it's just these two little pins here. And you gotta do is bend them back into place lol. Now 7/8 of my Wii Remotes work.

Been slowly working on this list so gonna post some progress. First thing I did here i think. Basically just some electrical tape to cover tears. This also has that bad GCN stick. Not sure if there's better replacements. But I have 4 better condition 64 controllers already.

I expect that it's like the difference between working at a small company versus a large one. Small companies require a lot more flexibility, but also require that same flexibility from the worker. So in the end, it probably depends on the person. Opportunity doesn't imply success for all people.

I wonder how much is lost or gained by the lack of oversight from more experienced devs when you're working as an indie team vs. a more traditional publisher model. I don't know anything about game development so please understand lol.
