Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 08/09/2026Although I’m only seeing 45 right now, and I’d normally get quite a lot more this time of day. 000
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 08/09/2026Mine’s noticeably down today compared to yesterday, mostly because of rain. I mainly see planes over France from here. 100
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 21/08/2026Recent graffiti in Brighton. The spiders here are *massive*. 020
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 10/08/2026LLMs just spit out “what an answer might look like”. It’s a response not an answer. In well written-about subjects that response will be correct. In novel areas it might also be correct (statistics, right) but it‘s more likely to be tosh. Like this. 010
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 10/08/2026One of my hobbies is demonstrating just what utter nonsense LLMs churn out: 110
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 09/08/2026These are nice, although nowhere near as nice as they used to be. 000
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 03/08/2026The stupid thing about my ADS-B (plane detector) setup is that I get the best results with an indoor mag-mount antenna on the edge of a thick metal plate which is tilted down slightly, and with the antenna squashed up against the double glazing. Works better than a proper outdoor antenna. Bonkers! 110
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 23/07/2026This is a post on arsebook where I was tagged in a comment because a friend thought I’d be amused. Loads of comments saying what nonsense this is. A few backing up the OP. But here’s the thing. The person has ‘professional mode’ switched on. This means they get money for engagement. 1/2 210
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 01/07/2026If was part five other than six. I was able to scroll through it (see thumbnail) but didn’t watch it because I didn’t want to watch the episodes out of order. It now says upcoming. But you can see from the thumbnail that I was able to see it previously. 100
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 25/06/2026Watching the outdoor temps to see when it's safe to leave my air-conditioned loveliness and go for my daily leg stretch. Looks like it might be a while yet. Yesterday afternoon cooled down significantly faster. 130
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 19/06/2026Just re-framed our Picasso. OK, it's a print rather than a painting, but it is an original from 1949. Once saw the same poster in a Picasso exhibition at the Tate Liverpool. Theirs wasn't as well preserved. I love it most for the peace theme. We need more of that. 030
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 10/06/2026Great time to launch, when Anthropic is currently doing this: 020
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 08/06/2026I know this was yesterday’s news, but just seen this which I thought was great: 19916
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 28/05/2026Looks like they building one of these for the orange man-baby: 140
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 27/05/2026My 12yo great-nephew crocheted a Donald Trump. And even he realised the significance of the red tie. 110
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 25/05/2026Given up and put the aircon on. Always amazes me how little leccy it uses (four unit split, inverter heat pump). Only really use it on sunny days for cooling, so there‘s no energy impact, but it doesn’t use the full generation. 021
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 01/05/2026I have this running on a Raspberry Pi with a microphone listening to my garden. It uses the same recognition engine as Merlin, but runs 24/7. Not perfect - like Merlin it sometimes makes mistakes - but great fun. 1120
Paul Ockenden @ockenden.com · 30/04/2026EV full, battery full, immersion tank up to temp. I suppose it’s only fair to let the grid have some. 030
