This small #eDNA sampler is making a BIG impact! Launched only a year ago, it's already enabled park rangers, researchers, government and citizen scientists in Canada, the US, Australia, and the EU to collect reliable samples in very remote freshwater sites and marine environments.

We analyze microplastic samples in our ISO-5 Clean Laboratory using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (#FTIR). We can identify 20 of the most common plastic polymer types down to 10 microns and provide reliable polymer abundance, size, morphology, and chemical composition data. 🧑🏼‍🔬🔬

(2/6) Single-use plastic items are made to be durable, which means they do not degrade in the environment. Instead, they break up into smaller pieces called #microplastics. With only 9% of Canada's plastic was actually recycled, a significant amount of single-use plastic ended up in the environment.
