I am less pessimistic about this than I am about the third-country removal case, but I have no illusions that this is an easy case for advocates. But this is a situation where nearly every federal judge in the country has already weighed in, and the vast majority have rejected Trump's views.

A victory for the government in this case would greenlight long-term mass civil detention at a level not seen since Japanese internment during WWII. It would represent the largest change in how the US treats immigrants facing removal since 1996, and remind us again that the 96 law must be erased.

This will be one of the most important immigration cases in a generation. The Trump admin claims that a 1996 law mandates the detention of millions of people without any right to a bond hearing; every person who entered illegally, no matter how long in the past. If they win, it's a nightmare.

Worth noting that "administrative detention", especially that of children, is almost always a crime under intl law and doubly so if one does not even have the legal right to apply jurisdiction onto the territory you are seizing that individual from, which Israel does not re: Palestine or Syria.

It’s terrifying being disabled and completely reliant on someone else for survival. Being unable to feed or clean yourself is unsettling. There isn’t help available. If your caregiver doesn’t show? You suffer. If they’re abusive? You suffer. The system does not protect us.
