Especially more recent filmmaking as so much dynamic sweeping camera movement and fast flashing cuts, it’s awful for me. Older and low budget shows with more stationary cameras and less cgi and weird editing are sometimes okay

It suckssss I used to read SO MUCH. And I can still read some things but not usually completely new or unfamiliar things. Part of it is eye strain, part of it is lack of attention, but a lot of it is the sheer amount of brain work it takes to read! I get weirdly exhausted and overstimulated so fast!

Additionally, and most personally, due to Circumstances I have a really hard time reading new things now. I know, I know, a writer who doesn’t read, for shame. But at least I can still write. I need stories like I need to breathe, so I make them for myself. I always have, just now more than ever.

I’ve watched a lot of talented amazing writers burn themselves out imagining what other people will think, or writing to market, or upholding some external standard for their writing that they cannot meet I’ve *been* that person I broke my joy on the criticism of others. Never again

I write for me. I write the books I need to read, the stories I need to tell. I am my first (and usually only) audience, so if I can’t bring myself joy first, then why bother? If someone else also finds joy or meaning in my writing, that’s wonderful, and I’m truly glad #pretendpanel

Always word count, for me. I’m so used to measuring length and where I am in a plot arc by word count it’s pretty instinctive at this point. However, I no longer set word count goals for myself or try to do set amounts per day. The word count measurement is a tool not a punishment #WeeknightWriters

Well one thing I can say with fair certainty is that it will be a fantasy (or sci-fi? maybe?) novel. Because. Well.
