In this period of time filled with AI stupidity, let's celebrate those we are not celebrating enough: Art supporters, Art commissioners THANK YOU! Thanks to YOU, many artists can do what they do the best and keep being productive but most importantly Artists can LIVE!

thinking about the popularity of so many "redraw trends" and plagiarism of compositions by all sorts of artists (it comes up often for gposing but 2D artists do it too). i have to sum up my discomfort with it as follows: it's artists treating other artists the same way A/I treats art as data

NEW ADVICE-FROM-LIEBER LIST! I've posted these tips as a thread before, but I figured it's about time I made it available as a single, shareable image.

MISTAKES I'VE MADE THAT YOU CAN AVOID
Don't be like me.
1. Don't trash your own work when complemented. In that context your self-deprecation is insulting someone else's taste! Just say thanks and change the subject. Maybe credit an influence?
2. As far as your readers are concerned, comics are drawn with a printing press or a monitor. Don't fetishize the original art or the tools you make it. Anything that gets the story told the way it needs to be told is the right tool for the job.
3. Don't use one job to audition for another. It's unfair to your collaborators and a betrayal of the reader to get flashy or sexy or explosive if the moment in the story doesn't call for it.
4. The important storytelling choices on a page can be worked out in thumbnails. Gesture, camera angle, framing, broad arrangement of tones-get this stuff right before you worry about anatomy, lighting, drapery, or facial expressions.
5. Some artists can put down a final inkline with no underdrawing, but that's because they're skilled and experienced enough to do all that underdrawing in their head. You probably aren't. Get your underdrawing right and save the masterstrokes for the masters.
6. What you're feeling while you work doesn't matter. What the audience feels when they read it does. You can be happy and still do a great drawing of someone in agony. You should understand what you're depicting. It's not necessary to experience it in real time at the board.
7. Get a fresh eye on your work. You never know when some accidental juxtaposition is going to completely change your intended meaning.
8. Don't let getting things 100% right keep you from getting things done. It's easy to get bogged down in research or prep sketches. Make a schedule at the start of a project so you know how much time you have. Do the best you can with the time allotted and move on. But...

while i don't think that copying another artist's work 1:1 for "trends" is on the same level of AI, there needs to be a serious discussion about stealing/copying and treating other artists and their work as "inspo"/turning their work into unwelcome trends they didn't consent to in the art community

mucho texto i know but i wanted to write a lil thing about how u can treat yourself nice!!

art of a wolf girl eating broccoli and brushing her teeth. the dialogue says:
I've been an adult living on my own for a coupleyears now and since I have ADHD and bouts of Sick Brain Disease I can fall into a rut easilyESPECIALLY when it comesto taking care of myselfbut the awesome thing about being an adult is that no one is watching over your shoulder making
sure you're perfect i used to give myself shit that i wouldn't be able to eat healthier or take care of myself in an optimal way here's a cool trick tho: ANYTHINGis is better than nothing. if you can only eat a couple vegetables? buddy thats better than no vegetables. worried about brushing your teeth for like three minutes? do like ten seconds instead want to socialize more often but you're worried you can't do multi-hour events? babe you're an adult now, if you get tired you can just leave lol If you want to improve, fuck yeah, work your way up to more of whatever. starting at all is the hard part - if you can do that then you've got a lot of what you need already anyway ive crunched the numbers and treating yourself a little bit better than yesterday is actually a million times better than trying to Fix Your Life Completely and getting mad when you can't do a 180. be nice and recognize that you can live a lot of your life in first or second drafts; if you're not perfect yet? fuck it, you'll get better later! u can do it!!! woof!!

[ #art #gw2 ] my attack on the gw2cc crew :J!!

An illustration for GW2CC! A small art fight dedicated to Guild Wars artists and OC creators.

A fighting game character select-type illustration, where sides of 27-28 characters are split between two teams: team dream and team nightmare. The left side is colored in a monochrome green while the right is in a monochrome purple. Two characters are colored with their full palette, Lochlainn Pryce and Sonata Tryst, which indicates that the 'player' chose them for battle.

The same thing as the original image, except the username of the artist is overlaid on top of their OC.

Wrong way to approach bird photography — or just me trying to draw an overexposed picture effect :D My 1st artfight attack of the year, and it goes for @jquarze.bsky.social ❤️‍🔥 #artfight #artfight2026 #teamcomedy

A portrait of a harpy, drawn as if it were a photograph taken with a camera with a way too high powered flash, because most of her face is overexposed. She also looks unpleasabtly surprised by the flash. This artwork is done as part of the Artfight event and the character is Astrel by Jadequarze.

So many people can't conceptualize manufacturing that isn't sweatshop labor, like really genuinely truly think all manufacturing is exploitation, and that a professional working relationship that is fair between a client and a manufacturer isn't possible

Losing It. A comic by shortsplit. August 2021

It's hard in the beginning, when you first notice the change. It shakes your confidence. And you're not sure if you can wear it well.

So you hide it. Hope that if you ignore it you won't have to face it. But there can be freedom in losing it. In letting go of the ideal inside your head

and seeing yourself more clearly I get to be closer to you.
