I needed this laugh, I didn’t even know I had lost this belly laugh that just came rumbling out “Post the 3 digits on back of your CC” and -they will-?! they just do it, man this so dang good to see

This is Mariah. Mariah is a tom turkey. And a diva. I miss Mariah but know they’re holding it down in Brighton 🦃
A digital photo of a tom turkey in full strut, facing to the right of the photo. The turkey has a beautiful snood and a big ol’s feather beard. The turkey is named “Mariah” and is a total diva for shell-on peanuts.

As early LLM’s rolled out I actually sat with the Google one (bard? Twix? whatev) & tried to translate Linear A Minoan as I’m a simple dude & I thought that’d be a good test. Lofty goal I thought. Surely others more learned than me would use this tool and advance humanity and, oh wait

the man he never was, the uncle whose medal he stole now, might have been the only damn redeemable human being in that disgusting family. I get some of my cancer care at Lahey Burlington & reading John Trump’s bio weekly it is quite difficult to rectify the relation.

I just got a weird “everything you knew is wrong” vibe when I died in ‘99. Got to experience to opening solar system scene of ST:TNG, at least my brain was rolling that. Coma for a week after. No dang book deal, though. I was only dead for just under ten minutes so I guess I missed buff Jesus 🤷

Wake up to get to toilet. Get back to bed. No cats. I call Mika once and she materializes and jumps into bed. Now it’s 3:30am she finally stopped purring. Watching her head slowly tilt now, and rest on my leg. I am very fortunate in my recovery 🤲🏼

A top-down photo of a vibrant pink-red fuchsia flower in full bloom. The red petals are spread and a gigantic white blossom descends out of view. In the background, on the ground, a large greeny plant with red flowers as well is blooming at the camera.A digital photo of a vibrant pink-and-purple fuchsia flower and several buds. There is no color correction: this is the color of the flower petals! It is quite vibrant red-pink, almost neon. And all the vines around are green and full.

The “evolution” led to an all-night legislative session while the Orange Line burned. August 2022. Then our governor left his job for the place he’s benefited from that all-night session (NCAA). That became a watershed moment in gambling here. “Mutated” more like.

Chemotherapy for stage four adenocarcinoma starts -again- in 3 days for me. Everything I’ve done, masks, filters, UV, is done because without it I will die. That is my reality. I know it is reality for so, so many. We have to adapt or die. In a country that champions the self. To the very end.

inexorable @nxrble.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Maybe not in the active “want” but much more the “just go away forever” sentiment. I’ve had family threaten to kill my children. Strangers call me words I won’t write. Churches told me I don’t get into heaven because I had kids with the “mark of Cain”. That was all before 2020.

It isn’t to say there is no empathy, no care. There is so much I’ve seen that I know it lives. My life is a testament to empathy. I am not special. Sitting on a bench with people on either side, the reality here is one of those humans wants my kids dead. Just for existing. How you rectify that?

inexorable @nxrble.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Books, media voices, the chorus of “empathy is a sin”, all platitudes to shore up that empty humanity you wear as an American. It’s not a generation, not a city or county, not a religion. “Greed is Good” replaced “E Pluribus Unum” and it may never have been the latter, only the former here.

What little net there is is surrounded by millions of selfish humans, knives out, teeth gnashing that anyone but them would be helped. After all, they suffered too! Where was their help? Every hand in this country holds a blade against that net. It wasn’t fair for them, it won’t be for others.

The people on podiums made decisions. The bootstraps must be pulled up, the onus on the individual cuts both ways now. Back to work, let’s distract, nothing to see here. Until it hits you, and even then they’ll still reach down for those bootstraps. There is no safety net.

What I’ve overheard in my presence over the last 6 years of this laissez-faire virus outbreak, compounded with anti-vax mouthbreathers, leaves me certain-certain!-I cannot trust any institution or person to act with anything but selfish intent. To limit liability, nothing more.

It’s late 2026 and I begin chemotherapy in 3 days. Here are some observations I’ve learned on the 9th floor oncology ward: 5% use masks. In my almost 3 years of treatments and surgeries, even in the hospital, even in oncology, less than 1/20 masks. Those who do wear skew to ASTM-3 floppy masks.

Minecraft was the first game I played that in seconds I knew would be awesome for the kids. Legos on the computer and not under your foot! Build everything! Each one of my kids loves that game and it is still a good quiet unwind to play and make. The soundtrack is still being played too.

Eve Online I became a pirate in one of the most-feared lowsec Corp. and made billions off ransoms & fights. Could only squeeze gaming in late night with Aussies. Still hold a decent 4% chance of you surviving an encounter with me. Also Eve lead directly to worst accident I’ve been in IRL. Stories.

Journey made me cry. Another absolutely beautiful game start to finish, and discovering the others you had helped and helped you? Goosebumps remembering. Such a deep and thoughtful experience that lives on with you after. The soundtrack and those cellos. The struggle on the mountain. Beautiful.

Flower was a game that is hard to call “game”. It is beautiful in every way I never imagined until I sat with it. Pure joy, art, sound. A story with no words. Just a petal on the wind. The feeling of, encapsulating? “cinematic” as you gather other petals on gusts of wind, it’s wonderful.

Doom. Quake would be right here fighting Doom for the spot, but Doom wins. Doom Marine. Hot damn that’s me. Every solution has a shotgun in the answer. Rip and tear. Then Mick Gordon woke up one day, chose “awesome”, & one of the best video game scores bled out. A visceral game for me.

Age of Empires: II was my go-to game while on military travel. Got written permission to install on gov assets and would play it in the officer quarters I’d be staying at. I still play tho game 30 years later, just this week matter of fact.

Street Fighter 2 was THE arcade game. Hundreds of dollars in quarters spent discovering Chun Li is an unstoppable dance-on-your-head player. So much trash talk, especially when it ported to SNES. That was also peak arcade; never saw as many game cabinets as when SF2 was peak.

Influence from video games: a multi decade summary. SimCity was on the elementary school Apple II’s. Computers and games were not things that sat together, there it was in the Computer Lab with a line to use it. Cheat codes would make your city catch fire or earthquakes.
