Fantastic! When the media is in the tank for the GOP and moderators cannot be trusted to actually moderate debates and fact check there’s no need to get on a debate stage with a pathological liar like Byron Donalds

Racism has to thrive on something, after all! Difference is bad! They’re taking over? Now we are afraid!

What’s funny is for years the complaint was “they don’t assimilate.” Now some brown guys go have fun at a football game and we’re … mad?

Hasn’t occurred yet and the NCAA tends to win the merits in most singular antitrust cases.

Even if an oversimplification— not at all an exception. Kentucky just bought out Stoops with revenue. Kelly bought out with revenues which exceed the cap proposed by the PCSA! It doesn’t matter much, though. The bill won’t pass the house

The NCAA argument is empirically untrue— a weird Cruz/PCSA talking point but the reality is college sports areexpanding in the NIL era.

Also false. See, FSU’s issues as a recent example

Federal law would have to change for bargaining to occur either way. Football players and basketball players would seek their own agreements. This is sensible given they generate the revenue and they receive almost all the revenue share (over 98%, per a recent study cited in Blythe v NCAA).

The relevant question is why Congress would preserve an uncapped compensation market for coaches while protecting a cap on compensation flowing from institutions and associated entities to the athletes actually competing in the games. Athletes are aware this is the key query.
100
Neil W. Blackmon @nwblackmon.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
I’m not at all missing the point. The PCSA caps their compensation. If it passes and there’s no collective bargaining, they have zero recourse (especially given the law has an antitrust exemption).
110
Neil W. Blackmon @nwblackmon.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Just not true. The revenue share money goes almost exclusively back into the other two sports. If you cap compensation, by the way- you impair a legal limit in any actual “sharing” that does occur with non-revenue sports. Of course players would want to bargain about that!
101
Neil W. Blackmon @nwblackmon.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
The moral case is simple. Athletes are the only people whose compensation would be restricted, whose playing careers are fleeting, and whose bodies bear the risks of concussions, long term injuries, and lifelong impairment. If we don’t let them bargain, what are we even doing?
031
Neil W. Blackmon @nwblackmon.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
The bulk of revenue share money only goes to 2 sports.
100
Neil W. Blackmon @nwblackmon.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
As for the PCSA, if the law passes w/o a viable collective bargaining mechanism , it’s both morally wrong & woefully insufficient practically. The quid pro quo for any federally authorized cap on athlete compensation must be an enforceable mechanism allowing athletes to bargain collectively.

If Dave Doreen’s empire to mediocre white football coaches finally crumbles, it will all be worth it, though as a Tar Heel I hope Dave stays forever.

Point 2 is not a significant issue, especially post revenue share. A CBA would almost certainly be required separately for football and basketball.

Neil W. Blackmon @nwblackmon.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
If you want to give the NCAA an antitrust exemption, you have to provide a framework for collective bargaining.

Neil W. Blackmon @nwblackmon.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Capping revenue off labor while providing no bargaining mechanism for the athletes is absolutely a restraint on the accumulation of black wealth. Full stop.

Meanwhile, the best writer the league employed was a casualty of poorly thought out cost-cutting measures, so there’s not a great writer(who isn’t still covering the World Cup) to set the table on league tactical trends

I celebrate it and love my country very much, which is why I feel so compelled to express my sadness, too. And I think of men like Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Joshua Chamberlain, Medgar Evers, John Lewis, Muhammad Ali and many others who saw seeds of greatness and possibility amidst injustice.

Not saying the US will win. But… Belgium are an aging golden generation that isn’t great defensively and the US will be playing in about as good a home field advantage as they could hope to have. No Flo sucks. But if not now, when?

The MAGA right meltdown over the birthright citizenship decision ignores that birthright citizenship has existed since the ratification of the 14th Amendment in 1868, is central to the Lincoln led vision of the Reconstruction amendments as an anticaste reset for the nation…
