I don't know what "Berniesque" means exactly but if it's contextualizing and highlighting relevant dynamics that lead to tragedy/turmoil, it doesn't sound bad. Similarly, mass shootings SHOULD be used as opportunities to talk about how our gun policy has failed us. It's responsible politics.
