Regarding the implementation of female genetic testing ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) published guiding principles on protecting the female category at the end of March 2026. On this basis, only biological women who do not carry the SRY gene will be able to compete in this category. This gene, located on the Y chromosome, triggers testosterone production at puberty. The principles for establishing a specific regulation were validated by the Management Committee; the regulation, which will be submitted for approval before the end of the year, will apply exclusively to events recognised by the IOC and will provide for a single test over the course of an athlete's career. The results of these systematic tests will be kept strictly confidential. An awareness programme will shortly be rolled out to athletes, teams and National Federations to ensure a smooth process ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

So the Tour de France last wildcard is dependent on whether Total Energies can be saved. The 3 Italian 2nd division teams are in good place with polti in 25th, solution tec in 26th and bardiani in 29th, so when cofidis turn down the automatic place, the 3 italian teams go into 3 giro wildcards BUT

I had thoughts and wanted to put them in writing, then just keep them to myself. People in real life tend to switch off if I mention the word "cycling" i would add is i compared the events scheduled in 26/27 compared to what took place in earlier years. Mostly I don't know why races did not happen

It does feel worrying to see so many races lost. From 70% in UK, 30% lost in USA in 1 year, 37.5% in France in 3 years . Probably didn't help with Lappartient scoffing at races outside the world cup, and calling them "national events" when criticising Thibau Nys

Belgium is down 1 event, but this can be explained. Middlekerke hosted 2 last year including the Europeans. This year there is only 1 middlekerke and european championships are in Zeddam, Netherlands There was also 7 world cup rounds last season but 6 this year with the World's in Belgium.

Switzerland has seen little fluctuation going between 6 and 7 races for the 4 years I am looking. Netherlands if I added right is up to 7 in 26/27, up from 6 in 25/26, but down from 8 in both 23/24 and 24/25 Czechia is up 1 with 11 races, from 10 in each of the prior years

France had 16 in 2023/24 incl 2 world cups, 15 incl world champs in 24/25, but lost 4 uci ranked races in 25/26 to 11. 26/27, will see 1 less uci ranked race, down to 10 races. This marks a 37.5% less events then 2023/24.

In Britain, there was 10 races in 2023, 8 in 2024, 10 in 2025, but for 2026/27, this is down to 3. While gain of World Cup is good, the roots have been plucked with loss of Hope Series, and 4 of the 5 rounds of the National Trophy.. Ireland meanwhile only remaining Uci race is the national champs.
